Anathea’s lips pressed into a thin line as she stared at the bowl of oatmeal.
“Are you worried that I’d polson you?” Gregory asked when he saw the wariness in her eyes.

She made no reply, but the look in her eyes said enough. In her eyes, Gregory had already lost all credibility.
Gregory ate the mouthful of oatmeal he’d scooped for her to show was safe.
“See? All clear. Come on, start eating. Mateo said you were a little malnourished. Just have a little bit of oatmeal, even if it’s just for our baby’s sake.”

Gregory stirred the oatmeal, his fingers trembling slightly after he heard Anathea laying full claim over the baby and denying any sort of participation from him. She didn’t even want to share the baby with him at this point and only cared about cutting ties with him.

Abitterness welled up in him, but he quickly recovered from it and said, a shade tersely, “If you don’t want Mateo to let slip that you’re pregnant, you’ll finish this oatmeal.”
“Are you threatening me?” Anathea frowned.
“If it works, sure.” Gregory tried his hardest to ignore her dark, angry gaze and scooped another spoonful of oatmeal. He blew on it and brought it to her mouth, coaxing, “Come on, Anathea. You have to eat or you’ll break my heart.”
“You bastard!” Anathea parted her lips to curse at him, but he seized the opportunity to shove the spoonful of oatmeal into her mouth.
What a cunning scoundrel!
She glowered at him and swallowed the oatmeal. But just as she was about to snap at him again, he grasped the timing and fed her yet another spoonful of oatmeal.
His unflappable and unyielding maneuver deflated whatever temper she’d worked up. Resigned, she leaned against the headboard like a helpless woman and allowed him to wait on her.
She wanted to see just how long he could carry on like this, given that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had never had to look after or serve anyone growing up.
Surprisingly, Gregory continued to be patient with her. He even fed her a few strawberries after she finished the oatmeal.
After that, he grabbed a hairbrush and gently raked it through her hair. He gently fisted her silky hair and clumsily pulled it back into a haphazard up–do, though it was nothing like the elegant hairstyle she’d had at the party last night.
“I’ll work on it and style your hair better next time,” Gregory promised
Anathea’s tone remained cold and stony. “Did you use this trick on another woman before deciding to use it on me?”
She was well aware that Gregory had never reserved any tenderness for her; it
normally reserved for someone else.

Hope flickered within him when he asked that.
If Anathea still cared about who he’d been with, wouldn’t it mean she still cared about him? In other words, he could take it as proof that she hadn’t stopped loving him as she’d claimed. She still had feelings for him!
