Anathea smiled in relief when she saw the climbing numbers on the financial charts.

It was 3:00 pm when the meeting ended. Anathea took a sip of water and glanced at her phone.
At that moment, a new message popped up on her phone screen. It was a text from the lawyer from abroad.
“I’ve returned. Let’s meet up when you have the time.”
Anathea set her glass down on the table. Some of the water sloshed and splashed out, glittering in the sunlight.
Anathea arrived at the address of the cafe the lawyer had given her and spotted a figure clad in a beige coat by the window.
She knew who it was right away–Giselle Chamberlain, a renowned Havarian lawyer who’d made a name for herself among her elite, Armeran peers. She was also known as the fox of the legal industry.
Giselle had shot to fame at a young age for being a wunderkind in the legal industry. She was undefeated in her career. Through sheer determination and hard work, she’d outshone her Armeran peers and set up a firm of her own.
She was in her early 30s and sported waist–length, wavy hair. Dazzling earrings hung from her earlobes, and a pair of shades rested atop her hair. She looked effortlessly stylish and casual.
“Ms. Jacobson,” Giselle greeted Anathea with a smile when she saw the latter. “It’s been years since we last saw each other. I can’t believe you haven’t changed all that much.”
They knew each other because Adam had engaged Giselle’s services during a few court cases, all of which Giselle had won.
However, they’d stopped working together after their views didn’t align, and Giselle went abroad. Anathea had even given her a ride to the airport.
When Adam got into trouble, Anathea had reached out to Giselle for help, but Giselle hadn’t returned her calls. And now, just as Anathea was beginning to give up hope, Giselle had finally contacted her.
Giselle gave her an answer about working on Adam’s case after going through the details. “I can help Mr. Jacobson with the case, and I’m more than 70% sure, that it’ll turn out in our favor.”
“Really?” Anathea’s eyes lit up.
“The thing is, even though the case itself isn’t complicated, and appealing won’t be hard, the problem we’ll face is with the forces involved in this case.”
Giselle’s red lips curled as she eyed Anathea and probed meaningfully, “If I’m guessing correctly, you’re still married to Gregory Sinclair, right?”
Giselle knew about Anathea and Gregory’s marriage, of course. After all, she’d been the one to draft the legal documents Adam had used to blackmail Gregory into marrying Anathea.
In other words, Giselle was one of the contributing factors to Anathea and Gregory’s marriage.
“You’re Mrs. Sinclair now. Are you sure you want to upset your husband? He’s the only mainstay you’ve got left,” Giselle pointed
out.

They said the eyes were the windows to one’s soul. One could tell a lot about a person’s passions and sentiments and see the glorious tales about how one won out against adversity in their eyes.
But Anathea had long since lost that light in her.
The decade–long crush she’d had on Gregory hadn’t worked out, and neither had the loveless marriage she shared with him. The two devastating blows had pounded all her drive and passion into fine dust.
Giselle pursed her lips. “Perhaps, aside from appealing your father’s case, I could also help you file for… divorce proceedings.”
