Anathea’s gaze flickered at the suggestion.
A divorce proceeding.
In truth, she hadn’t stopped thinking about leaving Gregory since she returned to his side. She was already exhausted and no longer wanted to drag things out with him.
However, he’d torn up the divorce papers into shreds and scattered them before her, clearly reminding her of how weak and helpless she was.
Perhaps filing for a divorce without his consent was the best solution.
Alas, Gregory was extremely powerful and influential in Castenea. Sinclair Group also happened to have the strongest legal department in the entire country, and it was infallible to date.
More importantly, if something went wrong along the way, Gregory could very well take revenge on Anathea. If that happened, . Adam—and even Fiona–might become collateral damage.
Anathea dared not dwell on such thoughts, but if she could successfully overturn Adam’s verdict and divorce Gregory, she could leave with her baby and be free from Gregory once and for all.
The world would become her oyster. That was the kind of liberty she’d always dreamed of having.
Anathea’s fingers slowly curled, a clear sign of her dilemma,
Sensing her conflict, Giselle tossed her hair over her shoulder and said with a lighthearted laugh, “Don’t rush through the decision. You can always reach out to me once you’ve made up your mind. We’ll sort out Mr. Jacobson’s case first, alright?”
“Alright.” Anathea nodded, extending her hand toward Giselle. “It’s a pleasure to work with you, Ms. Chamberlain.”
“Looking forward to it.” Giselle returned the handshake.
It was evening by the time Anathea wrapped up her discussion with Giselle.
Upon leaving the cafe, Anathea ran into Theo. A gorgeous woman was tucked close to him, and he had an arm wrapped around
her waist.
He went still when he saw Anathea, who only looked at him calmly before nodding slightly in greeting.
She didn’t say anything else. After all, she’d told him once that she wanted things to remain as usual between them–strictly acquaintances and nothing more.
As such, Anathea slowly brushed past him. She couldn’t walk any faster on account of the abrasion on her inner thigh that still
hurt.
She was halfway through the pedestrian crossing when she saw that the green light across the road was about to turn red. She quickened her steps, only to stagger in her rush.
The next second, someone gripped her arm to hold her steady. The faint scent of neroli filled her nose.
Frowning, Anathea pulled her arm back, a little put off by Theo’s touch–probably because it reminded her of the way he’d behaved at the party the other night
Theo pressed his lips into a thin line, but he let Anathea go.
However, when he saw the light across the road turn red, he moved to stand beside her. He raised a hand to stop the cars on the other side and slowed his steps as he walked alongside Anathea.

“Alright.” Anathea’s response was reserved, if not borderline indifferent. She wasn’t interested in learning how many women Theo kept in his company.
Theo swallowed the rest of his explanation.
Funny how he used to be a playboy who changed girlfriends faster than he changed clothes. Going out with a woman on his arm was practically business as usual for him.
But for some reason, he panicked when he saw Anathea earlier and grew anxious to explain himself to her, even if she didn’t look like she cared.
Theo was surprised by the change in him. He let out a breath, regained his composure, and fixed his gaze on Anathea again. Were you at the cafe with your friends?”
“Yes. A friend of mine just returned from abroad,” Anathea replied flatly.
“You’re not driving today?” Theo asked.
She shook her head. She couldn’t even walk at her usual speed, let alone drive.
Theo hesitated for a second before offering, “It just so happens that I drove here today. How about I give you a lift home?”
The words had only just come out of his mouth when a silver–black Maybach pulled up by the curb.
The car window rolled down the next second to reveal Gregory’s face.
A ray of sunlight happened to fall across his face at that moment, casting his handsome, chiseled features in a warm, golden glow. He was even wearing a pair of gold–framed glasses that made him look civil and gentle–mannered.
