As their eyes met, Anathea saw the desire surging in Gregory’s eyes. He looked as if he wanted to take her the very next second. She froze for a moment, then looked away. She pressed her lips together, her tone cold. “If you’re going to be like this, then stop wiping me down.”
She moved to get up, but Gregory caught her wrist.
“Sorry, Annie. I just… miss you too much,” he said apologetically. But I’ll control myself. I won’t hurt you again. Trust me.” Anathea stared at his reflection in the mirror, seeing how he pressed his lips to restrain himself. But she was unmoved.
In the past, whenever the urge struck him, he would act on it immediately and throw her onto the bed without a second thought. He’d never cared about how she felt.
With so many past instances as warnings, her trust in him was nearly nonexistent. So even this show of self–restraint did nothing to sway her.
In fact, wanting something that was right in front of him but being unable to have it was even more tormenting
This was Anathea’s revenge, her punishment for Gregory.
Gregory let out a breath and forced himself to suppress the thoughts running wild in his head. After he finished wiping her back, he moved to the front.
But with one careless motion, his hand accidentally brushed against her rosy tip.
Anathea’s whole body went stiff. Gregory froze as well, as if a jolt of electricity had just shot through him. His breath nearly stopped, his throat tightening.
“Annie…” He sounded hoarse, as if he couldn’t hold it back anymore.
“That’s enough. Stop.” Anathea immediately pushed his hand away and grabbed a towel to wrap herself in, assuming a clear defensive stance.
Gregory was stunned.
With a closer look, one could see her slender shoulders trembling ever so slightly.
She truly didn’t want him.
Gregory lowered his gaze and dug his nails into his palm to stay rational. Then, he uttered softly, “I’ll carry you out.”
“No need.”
Despite what she said, Gregory bent down and picked her up. “Don’t worry. I have no ulterior motives.”
Not responding, Anathea simply turned her head away.
Holding the woman who clearly didn’t want to acknowledge him, Gregory felt a faint sting in his heart. But when he noticed how her ears had turned slightly pink, his mood lifted slightly.
There was still time. Even if Anathea’s heart was a block of ice, he would melt it little by little.

Anathea gave a small nod and followed her downstairs, just in time to see Gregory and Xander sitting at the dining table, doing the exact same thing–peeling shrimp.

“Your mom likes shrimp. Peel the whole plate for her,” Gregory remarked.
But I want to eat shrimp too, Dad!” Xander whined.
“You can eat the shells.”
Xander was confused, while Anathea was speechless.

Off to the side, Bella was biting her lip, trying not to laugh. When she saw Anathea, she quickly brought over a bowl of organic oats and set it in front of her.
Anathea took a sip. “It tastes a bit different from before.”
“This isn’t the same brand as before. We actually ran out of the previous one. I was going to buy more, but just this evening, Mrs. Sinclair Senior had someone send some over. She said it was for you, Mr. Sinclair, and Mr. Xander,” Bella explained.
Xander shook his head. “I don’t like organic oats.”
Anathea didn’t particularly like it either, but the doctor said she needed more nutrition, so she finished the whole bowl. Just as she set it down, a plate of fully peeled shrimp was placed in front of her.
