“You started the deal between us, but I decide when it ends.” Dominic’s voice echoed before Hannah, abruptly pulling her from distant memories. “You haven’t forgotten that, have you, Ms. Cole?”
Hannah felt a chill crawl down her spine under his intense gaze.
But she pinched her hand hard to force herself to calm down, then picked up the coat he’d tossed onto her lap and slipped it on. It barely covered her thighs.
“Dominic, you’re getting married. Shouldn’t our deal end there?”
“When did I say the deal ends just because I’m getting married?” Dominic asked indifferently.
Hannah froze, disbelief filling her eyes. “You want me to be your mistress?”
Dominic said nothing.
To Hannah, that was a clear yes.
“No way!” Hannah’s tone was firm, though her voice trembled slightly from the sheer intensity of her anger. “I would never be a mistress!”
Her family had been shattered by Leon’s mistress. Celeste had abandoned her, and she’d become an orphan. She hated mistresses with every fiber of her being. Becoming one herself was unthinkable.
“I told you–it’s not up to you.” Dominic’s flat tone landed like a heavy blow, striking hard at her heart. “Unless you no longer care about your grandparents who raised you with so much effort.”
Hannah’s pupils contracted for a split second, reflecting his half–smile. He looked just like th

“Dominic, you’re such a jerk!” she hissed through clenched teeth.
She’d always known Dominic was no simple man, but she’d never imagined he could be so hateful. How dare he threaten her with her grandparents?
Dominic seemed to see through her thoughts and shrugged. “I’m not threatening you. It’s your grandparents who can’t let go of your father and begged me to spare him.”
“That man doesn’t deserve to be my father!” Hannah shot back.
“Fine, that Cole guy then,” Dominic amended. “You probably know that to your grandparents, there’s still a difference between their only son and their granddaughter.”
They were such cold words, but that was the undeniable truth.
Hannah’s eyes darkened with sorrow.
That was the only reason Sebastian and Isla kept giving in, opening the door and letting Leon threaten her again and again.

Hannah curled into herself, hugging her knees.
As Dominic looked down at her sorrowful form, his smile faded, and his tone grew serious. “Hannah, I have no other demands. I just want a child.”
After a long silence, Hannah lifted her head and looked at him. She asked hoarsely, “Why does it have to be me?”
There were so many women in the world. Dominic could have a child with any of them, so why her?
Dominic was silent a moment, then stepped closer. He reached out lifted her chin, and gazed deeply into her eyes, like he was admiring a perfect piece of art.
