Anathea put away her phone and chatted with Brisa about other things. After a while, Brisa took her to see the clothes she’d handmade for the baby.
When Gregory saw the smile on Anathea’s face as she looked at the adorable clothes, he smiled as well.
Just then, he received a message on his phone. It was from his lawyer, Edward.
“Mr. Sinclair, someone has filed an appeal on Adam’s behalf.”
Gregory’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Right after that, a call came in.
He paused for a moment, then stood up with his phone, saying to Anathea and Brisa, “I’ll step out for a bit.”
As he left Brisa’s courtyard, he happened to run into Eleanor, who was out for a walk.
“I hope I’m not interrupting your reunion,” Eleanor uttered.
“You are,” Gregory replied bluntly.
Eleanor was momentarily choked by his response but quickly regained her composure. “I didn’t mean anything else. I just wanted to congratulate you. You actually fell in love with Adam’s daughter. It looks like you’ve even forgotten your own grudge.!
Her words were laced with sharp thorns.
“That’s none of your business,” Gregory said coldly.
Eleanor sneered. “Heh, you’ve grown bold enough to talk to me like that now, huh? What, you really think you’re part of the Sinclair family now? Aren’t you afraid I’ll pull you down from where I placed you?”
She’d brought him into the Sinclair family and raised him to be their heir. Naturally, she could bring him down and crush him just as hard.
“If you dare, I don’t mind.”
Gregory looked at her expressionlessly. “But you won’t.”
“Gregory!” Eleanor shouted furiously.
“Yes, Mother?” The corners of Gregory’s mouth curled up.
His indifference nearly drove Eleanor mad.
“You really think you’ve found happiness now?” Eleanor suddenly let out a laugh, her tone meaningful. “You probably don’t know your dear wife is hiding something from you, do you?”
Gregory frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”
“Take a guess. You’re so smart, after all,” Eleanor said, staring at him. Her smile slowly faded, replaced v Smarter than my own son by far.”
Gregory’s eyes turned icy. “I won’t guess. But if you dare touch her don’t blame me for what happens next.”

Anathea and Brisa packed up the clothes and placed them neatly in box.
“Where’s Gregory? Why isn’t he back yet?” Brisa asked.
Anathea also glanced toward the door but didn’t see Gregory. “I’ll go check.”
She stood up and walked out. Just as she reached the gate of the courtyard, she heard Charlotte Hunter, one of the women married to a Sinclair, speaking loudly.
“Xandy, your mom’s pregnant. You’re about to share your inheritance with a younger sibling. Are you happy?” Charlotte asked.
Xander didn’t respond.
Charlotte laughed when she saw this. “You’re not, right? I get it. With a new sibling, not only do you have to share the inheritance, but your mom’s love for you will be divided too.”
Anathea frowned, not expecting this. Though she’d rarely interacted with Charlotte, the latter had deliberately come to stir trouble, trying to drive a wedge between Anathea and Xander.
And Xander…
Anathea looked at him. She’d poured so much love into him, but he’d let her down time and again.
After so many disappointments, she no longer held much hope for him.
But then, Xander refuted, “Having a younger sibling means Mom will have a harder time. As the elder brother, of course I have
to take good care of Mom and protect my sibling! Mom loves me because I love her. Isn’t that how it works?”
