Chapter 346
Peter yanked Anathea back hard, causing her to stagger to the floor
“I’ve heard that beating the abdomen with a wooden stick can cause a miscarriage. It’s not as unsightly. It doesn’t disgrace us, and it’ll teach her a lesson. She needs to know that our family’s bloodline is not a joke,” Eleanor said.
Then, she looked at Lennox and asked, “Why don’t we do that?”
Under the lightning that flashed across the sky, her smile looked like that of a venomous snake flicking its tongue.
“Alright,” Lennox agreed.
“Very well.” Eleanor nodded slightly.
Someone came forward with two wooden sticks, each as wide as a wrist, and stood in front of Anathea.
With a heavy thud, the floor shook, and so did Anathea’s heart. It pounded uncontrollably.
She looked around at everyone before her–the cold–faced bodyguards, Charlotte gloating, Holden looking as if he just wanted this to end, Eleanor with her malicious smile, and Lennox sitting there, looking all superior and emotionless.
Every single one of them was a true demon.
So, this was the prestigious Sinclair family, revered throughout Castenea. They were a pit of vipers that devoured people whole and didn’t even spit out their bones.
Anathea drew in a deep breath, feeling as if an invisible hand was clutching her hand. It hurt so much she could barely breathe. “Do it!” Eleanor ordered.
Someone stepped forward with the stick.
“No!” Anathea shouted in fear. She scrambled on the floor, trying to get out. But a wall of people blocked her path. They grabbed her by the ankle and dragged her back.
Outside, the rain poured endlessly. It was as though the sky had been torn open, spilling all its water at once and slicing the world into blurry fragments.
They held Anathea’s hands and legs. Anathea struggled with all her might. Her tears dried, and her voice went hoarse. But none of it made any difference.
No one would listen. No one even looked at her with sympathy. Everyone around her simply watched coldly.
Maybe they were already used to it.
Maybe they were so used to having so much power that they could crush the powerless. They were so used to this brutal den of cruelty, where strength ruled over everything that all their senses had gone numb.
No one would step in to help her.
Heavy despair enveloped her, dragging her into an abyss with no end, ready to swallow her whole.
Anathea’s face lost all color, her eyes blank as she stared at the person approaching her slowly with the stick. Her heart, which had been aching so badly, suddenly felt as if it stopped altogether.
She watched as the person lifted the stick high in the air before swinging toward her abdomen.
A deep, dull thud echoed out.
Anathea bit her lip hard, her eyes going wide for a second.
Then, a sharp gasp sounded from someone nearby.

“Theo! What are you doing?” Eleanor hollered in surprise, scowling.
At the last minute, Theo shielded Anathea from getting hit. The wooden stick landed on his back instead.
Theo sucked in a sharp breath. It was evident just how hard the hit was. Had it landed on Anathea, the consequences would’ve been unimaginable.
But he didn’t care about the pain in his back as he shoved away the people holding Anathea. “Get the hell away from her!”
No longer being restrained, Anathea collapsed limply to the floor
Theo immediately reached out and caught her, his voice filled with worry. “Are you okay?”
Anathea couldn’t say a single word. She just silently shook her head. Her lips, already bitten bloody, moved faintly.
She said she wanted to leave.
“Okay, I’ll help you.” Theo looked at her, his eyes red. Gritting his teeth, he picked Anathea up in his arms and turned to walk
out.
“Stop right there! No one is taking her anywhere!” Eleanor bellowed. Several bodyguards stepped in at once, blocking their path.
Theo had no choice but to stop, turning to Eleanor in confusion. “Aunt Eleanor, what exactly did Anathea do? Why are you pushing her so hard?”
“Because the child in her belly isn’t even Gregory’s! It’s some bastard from some random man! And you still want to protect woman like her? You’ve completely lost your mind!” Eleanor’s voice was icy and sharp.
