William froze for a moment, a flicker of guilt in his eyes. But he still steeled himself and replied, “No one told me to do it. I did it on my own!”
“You’re not willing to tell me, huh?” Gregory casually picked up the fruit knife on the table and toyed with it in his hand.
The sharp tip of the knife reflected a cold gleam under the light, casting a chilling glow on William’s face. When he saw that, his body trembled.
William kept swallowing, cold sweat already soaking his back. He knew the man in front of him was capable of absolutely anything.
Still, he stubbomly said, “I told you. No one told me to do it”
Before he could finish speaking, Violet was dragged over. “Ah!”
The moment the knife in Gregory’s hand shifted toward Violet, William panicked, “What the hell are you trying to do? I already told you everything. What, are you going to kill us now?”
“Nope, I’m not going to kill you. Death would be a relief. Why would I let you off that easily?” Gregory responded as he played with the knife.
He traced the tip of the knife lightly over William’s chest, and William’s entire body tensed up, as if even his breath had frozen. “There are many ways to kill someone. This knife doesn’t have to go through your heart,” Gregory whispered like the devil.
By the time they left the Jacobson residence, the moon was already high in the night sky.
Gregory wiped the blood from his hands with a handkerchief, his expression twisting in disgust.
Theo noticed his expression. “You could’ve let someone else handle this kind of thing. Why bother doing it yourself?”
Gregory didn’t respond, his face dark and brooding.
Theo knew Gregory had a thing about cleanliness–he’d always hated getting blood on his hands. Since he got them dirty this time, it meant he was already on the edge of rage.
