Gregory had said he would respect Anathea’s choice, but he still couldn’t bear to let her suffer like this. It was better to be in pain for a short time than a long time.
But Anathea had just woken up, only to hear Gregory say something like that. Understandably, she couldn’t stay calm.
“What did you say?” Anathea let go of his hand, completely in disbelief.
Gregory forced out his hoarse voice and repeated, “Let’s not keep the baby.”
Anathea froze as though her soul had suddenly been ripped away.
Gregory couldn’t bear to see her like that. He reached out to hold her hand again, but she suddenly pushed him away.
Her eyes were full of wariness. “Let’s not‘? As in the both of us? This is clearly just your decision.” –
Gregory looked at his empty hand, feeling a sharp pain in his chest. After a pause, he still uttered, “Yes. I’m the one who doesn’t want this baby.”
Anathea blinked, her brows furrowing. “Why?”
“Because I don’t like it.” Gregory clenched his fingers. He said something against his own will, something cruel.
“All your attention is on the baby. Do you have any idea how jealous that makes me? I want you to care about me. I want you to love only me, not a baby who hasn’t even been born yet. I can’t stand it.”
Anathea in shock and disbelief. She couldn’t believe he would say something like that. “Gregory, are you seriously out of your mind?”
He was so twisted he couldn’t even tolerate his own child!
“Yeah.” Gregory’s fingers curled into fists as he tried to steady his trembling voice. “That’s why… this baby can’t stay—”
“This is my baby. It has nothing to do with you! You have no right to decide for me!” Anathea cut him off, eyes red.
The baby had been with her through so many difficult, lonely moments. Every time she felt as if she couldn’t go on, the thought of the baby in her belly had given her the strength to keep going.
The baby was her comfort. The most important part of her.
And now, Gregory was giving her this absurd reason to give it up. It was as though he was cutting her heart out while she was still alive. How could she possibly accept that?
“If you dare lay a hand on my baby, I will never forgive you for the rest of my life!” Her voice was weak, but it was still loud and forceful.
Gregory looked at how agitated she was, and the words he was about to say caught in his throat. Right now, Anathea couldn’t
afford to be too emotional.
He knew she was determined to keep the baby, but he cared more about her health. The baby was so small and was already causing her so much suffering. Who knew how much more pain she would have to endure?
He couldn’t let that happen.
But he also knew how stubborn Anathea could be.
Suppressing the bitter pain in his chest, he exhaled and uttered coldly, “If you insist on keeping the baby, then forget about ever leaving this place again.”
Anathea’s face turned pale instantly. “Are you threatening me?”
He was using the freedom she’d always longed for to force her into giving up the baby she cherished!

Gregory looked at her heartbroken expression. His hands were cleriched so lightly his knuckles turned white, and his jaw was
tense.
“Yeah. So what?”
Anathea took a deep breath. Her eyes turned red, and tears welled up in them. It was as if all the strength had been drained from her body, and she collapsed downward.
Gregory quickly reached out to catch her, but she shoved him away. “Get out!”
“Annie-”
“Don’t call me that! It makes me sick!” Anathea’s eyes burned as tears slipped down her pale cheeks. “Gregory, you are absolutely disgusting!”
Gregory felt something stuck in his throat. The wound on his hand split open again, and blood quickly soaked through the bandage.
“Get out. I don’t want to see you!” Anathea took deep breaths, forcing back her tears. Her voice was raspy and choked. “Get out!”
She pulled the blanket over herself, not wanting to see him at all.
Gregory had so much to say, but when he saw her shoulders trembling under the covers, he held back.
“Get some rest. I’ll come see you later.” With that, he turned and left.
Only when his footsteps faded into the distance did Anathea finally lose control and begin to sob. Tears streamed from the corners of her eyes, soaking a large patch of the pillow.
