But none of these problems had existed before they decided to bid on that plot of land. Even the professional assessment determined that as long as they secured that land and developed the profit margin would be over 200%.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have run around so actively, teaming up with those ladies to invest in the project. She’d only done that because it seemed profitable.
The original plan was to build a 20–story luxury resort hotel–that was what convinced the other ladies to make an investment. After all, they could make money and enjoy it themselves.
“And Dominic Lancaster even raised the price to nearly double trying to get the land, which proves how valuable it is!” Eleanor
roared.
If Dominic hadn’t suddenly gotten involved, she wouldn’t have gritted her teeth and gone way over her budget to secure that
land.
Eleanor was so worked up that her carefully maintained face flushed red, her veins popping.
“B–But in the end, you still won the bid, Mrs. Sinclair,” David said quietly.
Eleanor froze.
No matter how high Dominic had driven the price, she was the one who’d ended up securing the land, which meant he’d done it
on purpose.
Eleanor stood there stunned before the truth about the situation finally sank in.
“I see.”
She flung David aside and let out a cold chuckle. “No wonder the price went up that high. It was all a setup for me!”
David was frightened by the expression on her face–far more terrifying than her anger–and swallowed hard.
“But I’ve got no grudge with Dominic. Why would he target me?”
Eleanor narrowed her eyes slightly, then suddenly seemed to realize something. She grabbed the glass on the table and hurled it to the floor. “It’s Gregory!”
Glass shards and water sprayed everywhere. David shrank back instinctively. While he was trying to stay away, Eleanor suddenly lunged forward and grabbed his tie.
“What do we do now? Can I cancel the deal?”
David closed his eyes and answered carefully, “Y–You’ve signed the contract, so I’m afraid that isn’t possible.”
He could already guess what was coming next.
“Useless! All of you are useless!” Eleanor shoved him hard. A few strands of her perfectly styled hair fell onto her forehead, leaving her looking disheveled and frantic. But she didn’t care one bit.
Pointing at David, she shouted, “What the hell do I pay you people for? You couldn’t even spot a loophole this big! If you don’t figure out a way to fix this and I suffer, then you’ll suffer with me too!”
David wiped a bit of spit off his face, trembling. “M–Maybe you could try negotiating with the original landowner…” he said in a small voice, handing Eleanor a document.
“A land use rights transfer agreement?”
Eleanor exhaled, trying to calm herself. At this point, visiting the original owner and re–evaluating the whole thing might really be the only option. Worst case, she would pay a penalty fee, which would still be better than losing everything.

But the moment she opened the document, she nearly tore it to sleds. The name listed in the “original owner” section made her so furious it felt as if her eyes would pop out.
“Gregory!”
At Sinclair Group, Gregory sat in his office handling the mountain paperwork that had built up over the past few days. The full cup of coffee next to him had long since gone cold, but he didn’t have the time to take a sip.
Theo stood with his arms crossed, watching Gregory concentrate.Do you really have to push yourself this hard? You’ve been working non–stop for two days straight. Do you want to die from exhaustion?”

Theo frowned and added, “Well, it’d be perfect if you died. Then I can finally pursue Anathea.”
