“You wouldn’t date” Gregory finally glanced at Then, his tone icy
“Then, stop working yourself to death,” Theo said irritably. “You don’t even go home. What, did you piss off Anathea, and now you’re too scared to go back because you’re afraid she’ll take it out on you?”
Hearing that, Gregory took off his glasses and rubbed the sore corners of his eyes, his voice tinged with weariness and defeat. “I wish she would take it out on me.”
At least then, there would still be some kind of interaction between them. They could at least exchange a few words.
But now, Anathea ignored him completely. She kept her door shut and wouldn’t let him in.
It he insisted, it would only upset her. And in her current condition emotional agitation was the last thing she needed. So, he had no choice but to stay out of her sight as much as possible.
It was a terrible feeling.
He had no choice but to throw himself into work so he could distract himself from thinking about her. Otherwise, he might actually lose his mind one of these days.
“You really had this coming.” Theo clicked his tongue. He didn’t know exactly what had happened between them, but it was the first time he’d seen Gregory so defeated.
The once–strategic and decisive CEO of Sinclair Group was now utterly helpless when it came to his own wife. It was honestly a little heartbreaking.
But before Theo could dwell on that thought, a commotion broke out outside.
“Where’s Gregory? Tell him to come out right now!”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Sinclair. Mr. Sinclair is currently busy. Perhaps I could take you to the lounge to wait—”
“Who the hell do you think you are to block my way?” Eleanor shoved the assistant aside and yelled furiously toward the office,” Gregory, get your ass out here!”
Afew employees nearby had already started gathering to watch the drama unfold.
Moments later, Martin opened the office door. “Please come in, Mrs. Sinclair.”
Eleanor snorted coldly, not sparing Martin a glance. The sharp click of her heels echoed through the hallway as she stormed into Gregory’s office.
“Aunt Eleanor, what are you doing here?” Theo looked at her in surprise. Eleanor looked absolutely furious.
“Look at the mess your dear cousin made!” Eleanor slammed a document onto the desk and pointed angrily at Gregory. “You ungrateful bastard. How dare you set me up?”
In contrast to Eleanor’s rage, Gregory remained calm.
He met her murderous glare with an indifferent expression, legs crossed and hands resting casually on the arms of his office chair. It was hard to tell what he was thinking.
“Mom, what are you talking about? How did I supposedly set you up?”
“And you still dare deny it!” Eleanor flipped open the document, jabbing a finger at Gregory’s name as if trying to stab through
- it.
“You knew I had my eyes on that land in Syntherra, so you bought it first and put it up for auction. Then, you had Dominic drive the price up to double to create false demand and tricked me into buying it. That’s some brilliant scheming!”
Now that the land couldn’t be developed into the luxury resort she’d planned, it was a total loss.

Not only had she lost all her investment, but she also couldn’t explain herself to the wealthy ladies she’d roped into investing with her. There was no way she could compensate them either.
“Is that true?” Theo’s eyes flashed with surprise. He looked at Gregory, frowning in disbelief.
“Aunt Eleanor gave birth to you, raised you, and brought you back to the Sinclair family–that’s the only reason you’re where you are today. You manipulated your own mother?”
That was just unbelievably heartless and ungrateful.
“My own mother?” Gregory let out a low chuckle at that. He lifted his gaze and gave Eleanor a long, meaningful look. “Is that what you think, Mrs. Sinclair?”
Eleanor froze.
“Oh, or should I say Ms. Harrington–the woman who went to such lengths to bring me back into the Sinclair family?”
