Theo troze for a moment, then glanced at Gregory with confusion

He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but Gregory’s words seemed to carry a hidden meaning. His expression gave nothing away, but the tension between him and Eleanor was unmistakable
“Greg, what are you trying to say?” Theo asked.
Gregory didn’t respond. He lifted his eyes lazily and looked straight at Eleanor.
Theo frowned. His confusion only deepened, so he turned to Eleanor as well. “Aunt Eleanor?”
For a split second, a flicker of guilt crossed Eleanor’s eyes. But she quickly masked it and let out a scoff. “All I did was suggest to your grandpa that he deal with Anathea and that bastard in her belly. Is that really worth cutting me off over?”
“I’ve told you, the baby she’s carrying is mine. Not some bastard.” Gregory’s tone was ice–cold. “You better watch your words, Mom.”
Theo finally understood. Gregory was still furious about what Eleanor had done. That was why he’d said such words.
Truth be told, Theo didn’t approve of what Eleanor had done either But unlike Gregory, he wasn’t in a position to fall out with
Eleanor.
When Theo was young, his parents had been cold and neglectful, focused entirely on his sick younger brother. The moment they discovered Theo’s bone marrow was a match, they’d strapped him to the operating table without a second thought. It was a
trauma he never wanted to relive.
In the end, it was Eleanor who stepped in. She’d told his parents, “If you won’t raise him, I will!”
Then she’d taken Theo away. From then on, she’d given him just as much as she gave Gregory.
He’d once asked her why she treated him so well. Eleanor had simply replied, “Because you’re a Harrington and the future of our family.”
But those words hadn’t meant much to Theo at the time.
The Harringtons used to be a powerful family, sure. But by his father’s generation, they’d completely fallen from grace. The Sinclairs had bought out their company for pennies, and what was left barely held together a thin facade of dignity.
Theo’s father sat around doing nothing, living off what was left and even eyeing the money Theo earned.
Theo had no intention of pouring his hard–earned cash into that bottomless pit, so he spent it all on himself, living it up.
His greedy father nearly got hospitalized from the anger because of this. But so what? Theo was never the well–behaved type to begin with.
Still, in front of Eleanor, he always showed a bit of restraint.
Now, seeing her face darken like a storm cloud, he whispered, “Aunt Eleanor, maybe this is all just a misunderstanding…”
“Misunderstanding?” Eleanor snapped, jabbing a crimson nail at the paper in front of her. “His signature is right here in black and white! He knew exactly what he was doing!”

“So what if I did?” Gregory smirked. “I warned you not to touch her, but you crossed the line anyway. So don’t expect me to show mercy.”
As soon as he said that, Eleanor’s phone rang. It was her lawyer.
She answered, and a panicked voice came through the line.
“Mrs. Sinclair, there’s a serious problem. The financial irregularities in the company you started under your personal name have been exposed. There’s an investigation underway, and things don look good…”

Eleanor nearly dropped her phone. Her eyes snapped up to Gregor
He hadn’t just sabotaged her investments. He was destroying the company she’d spent years building.
“Gregory Sinclair! You’ve gone too far!” she hissed between clended teeth.
Theo frowned. His gaze toward Gregory was heavy with conflict.
He hadn’t expected Gregory to go so far with Eleanor. “Greg, don’t you think you went a little too far this time?”
“Too far?” Gregory scoffed. His tone was bone–chilling as he met Eleanor’s eyes. “This is nothing compared to what you did to my wife behind my back.”
At that moment, Eleanor couldn’t even summon her anger. She fraze for a second, then simply let out a cold snort. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
