“What’s wrong?” Anathea frowned. “Don’t tell me you’re going back on your word.”
“No, Mr. Sinclair said that you can go out, but we have to follow bend for protection,” Howard replied. He immediately called tor vehicles to tail Anathea’s car.
Anathea clenched her fingers tightly.
“Protection” was just another word for surveillance.
“Mom, let’s go.” Xander was less worried than Anathea. All he knew was that she was finally allowed to come with him to the parent–teacher meeting. Now, he could introduce her to his friend
Xander tugged on Anathea’s hand, pulling her back to reality. She stopped caring about the bodyguards for now,
The main thing was to get out first, then figure out how to escape later.
The car soon arrived at Xander’s school.
As soon as Anathea stepped out, the bodyguards flanked her on both sides. Dressed sharply in black suits, they gave off an imposing presence.
People nearby instinctively gave way, while some kids excitedly told their parents, “Mom, look! Gangsters!”
Anathea’s lips twitched as she glared at Howard, who was leading the group. “Could you guys not stand so close? You might scare the other kids.”
Howard replied, “Mr. Sinclair said your safety is our top priority.”
Anathea knew reasoning with them was useless. She held Xander’s hand and headed to the classroom.
Meanwhile, Xander was already bursting with excitement. The moment he spotted his friend, he let go of Anathea’s hand and ran ahead, shouting, “Chloe!”
Anathea froze for a moment.
Chloe? Was it Chloe Cole? Or was it just someone with the same name?
But as she approached and saw Chloe chatting with Xander, her eyes filled with shock and joy.
It really was Chloe!
Xander led Chloe over to Anathea. “Let me introduce you. This is my-”
“Thea!” Chloe interrupted excitedly, wrapping her arms around Anathea’s leg before Xander could finish. “Thea, I’ve missed you so much!”
Anathea smiled and gently patted Chloe’s head. “I missed you too.
Xander blinked, even more confused. “Mom, you know her?”
Anathea nodded. “She’s Ms. Cole’s daughter.”
She hadn’t expected Chloe to be attending school in Castenea, let alone be in the same class as Xander. What a coincidence!
Chloe tugged on Anathea’s finger and excitedly added, “Thea, my mommy is here too!”
At that moment, a surprised female voice called out, “Thea?”
Anathea turned around and saw Hannah.
“I’ve missed you so much!” Hannah ran over, arms wide open.

Only then did Anathea finally breathe again. “Where is he now?”
“At the hospital,”
“Okay. Thank you.”
Anathea hung up the phone and turned to rush to the hospital, only to be blocked by Howard. “Please stay here, Mrs. Sinclair.”
“I’m just going to the hospital,” Anathea sald, frowning.
“Mr. Sinclair said that you’re only allowed to come to the school. Nowhere else,” Howard stated firmly.
“Oh, come on!” Hannah snapped, pointing at him. “Is Gregory’s word law now? He thinks he can just take away Thea’s freedom?”
“Miss, if you keep interfering with our duties, don’t blame us for getting rough.”
Four bodyguards stepped forward, the pressure from their presence instantly filling the space.
Hannah gulped.
Anathea quickly took Hannah’s hand and said gently, “Didn’t we say we were going to the restroom? Let’s go.”
Hannah was stunned for a second. When did she say that?
But she caught on quickly. “Right.”
The bodyguards started to follow them, but Hannah immediately snapped, “This is the women’s restroom! Are you planning to come in too? Gregory told you to protect Thea, not act like a bunch of creeps!”
