wearing the exact same outfit Hannah had been wearing earlier.
They immediately charged upstairs after her, but suddenly, a janit with a cleaning cart nearly crashed into them.
“Watch it!” one of them barked, shoving past the cart as they conued the chase.
When they finally rushed to the third floor and searched several classrooms, they found Xander and the woman, only to realize she wasn’t Anathea.
The bodyguards‘ faces went pale. Now they had no idea where the real Anathea had gone.
Meanwhile, at a shrine in Syntherra, Adrian asked Dominic, “I thought we were here to discuss a business‘ deal, Mr. Lancaster. Why did you bring us all the way up here?”
“We’ll get to the deal, so I just thought you might enjoy a tour of Syntherra’s century–old shrine,” Dominic replied confidently.
He knew perfectly well that Gregory would sign the deal as long as everything remained within reason. After all, he’d helped Gregory secure the land in Syntherra.
This was just a preliminary site visit.
“This shrine’s built on a mountaintop. From here, you can see all of Syntherra’s city center.” Dominic pointed toward the observation deck. “Including the spot where you plan to build the international financial hub, Mr. Sinclair.”
It was a project personally spearheaded by Gregory and the one he’d been most invested in lately.
After all, once the project was a success, Lennox would have to give up the position of family head, just as they’d wagered.
Originally, the project was planned to take five years, but Gregory had compressed the timeline to one.
And Lennox, true to his word, had already started suggesting to the rest of the elders in the Sinclair family that it was time to hand over leadership to Gregory.
They didn’t agree, of course. But when faced with overwhelming power, all they could do was swallow their protests and step
aside.
