Before Gregory could finish his sentence, the man who was bound cut him off with a groan and a hard shake of his head. Seeing this, Gregory froze, then swallowed the rest of his words.
“Did I say you could talk?” Michael seethed as he struck the man hard across the face.
At the sight of this, Gregory’s bodyguards moved forward.
“Come near me if you dare!” Michael dodged behind the man and fished out a dagger, pressing the blade against the man’s
throat.
Only then did Gregory raise his hand to stop his bodyguards. He furtively glanced at the man.
Blood trickled from the corner of the man’s mouth where Michael had struck him, but his expression was hardened by steely
resolve.
He was covered in wounds, big and small, indicating that he’d been roughed up. The blood that soaked through his shirt had dried too. And yet, he showed no sign of fear.
Gregory suppressed his impulses and stared at the man as if he were a stranger.
At that moment, Martin bit out icily, “Michael, did you think you could hold a total stranger hostage and have any leverage against Mr. Sinclair?”
“A total stranger?” Michael snorted.
He gripped the man’s jaw and turned him to face Gregory. Smacking the man’s cheek over and over, Michael drawled leisurely, ” This man’s name is Victor Olsen. Have you truly forgotten about him, Mr. Sinclair? To think he raised you for ten years…”
Bafflement flashed in Martin’s eyes. He had no idea what Michael was rambling about.
Gregory’s fists clenched at his sides, but he willed his expression to remain neutral and indifferent as he seamlessly changed the subject. “How did you get out of prison?”
“I have your darling relatives to thank for that.” Michael’s grin widened at the mention of this, and he sounded extremely pleased. “You don’t seem to get along too well with the Sinclairs, huh? So many of them are out to get you.”
Michael was simply delighted to know that many others shared his sentiment and saw Gregory as a thorn in their sides. They wanted to get rid of Gregory and celebrate his downfall.
However, they dared not get their hands dirty by making a move against Gregory directly. As such, they found a way to get Michael, who hated Gregory, out of prison to exact vengeance.
“What, are you that happy to be someone else’s pawn?” Gregory effortlessly saw through his so–called relatives‘ motives. It was clear that they’d freed Michael so that they could reap the rewards after he and Gregory had torn each other into shreds.
“So what if I am?” Michael couldn’t care less about being used like a tool. He pointed at Gregory and hissed through gritted teeth, “I lost my company, and my wife and kid are dead! I have nothing to lose! I’d rather become someone else’s blade than rot to death in that hellhole!”
And Michael had become the blade that would kill Gregory. He’d even followed the lead given to him by Gregory’s relative to track down Victor.
After kidnapping Victor, Michael dragged him to the abandoned factory so that he could force Gregory to experience the pain of losing a loved one.
However, Gregory was much more composed than Michael had expected. There was no telling if it was just a facade.
In that case, Michael went all–in. A menacing smile twisted his lips. He gripped the dagger, raised it, and stabbed it through Victor’s shoulder.

Victor’s cry of pain reverberated through the factory.
Gregory’s fingernails dug into his palmis. He pinned Michael with a cold, hard stare, not sparing a glance at Victor.
“Tsk. You truly are heartless.” Michael clicked his tongue, his gaze darting to Victor as he added ruefully, “Guess that person lied to me. You don’t mean much to Gregory after all. I’m sorry for how this ends, but seeing as you’re worthless, you may as well stop living altogether.”
As Michael spoke, he raised his arm once more. This time, the tip of the dagger was not aimed at Victor’s shoulder, but at the artery on his neck.
Suddenly, a loud bang cut through the deathly silence of the night
Michael’s eyes widened as he gaped at the blood gushing out of his arm. He was stunned and in disbelief, as if he hadn’t expected Gregory to fire a gun.
He looked at Gregory, only to meet a pair of cold, baleful eyes. Only then did realization settle over him.
As it turned out, Gregory had been quiet all this time because he was calculating the distance between Michael and Victor.
When Michael got carried away with his gloating and stepped out from behind Victor, Gregory immediately seized the opportunity, took out his gun, and pulled the trigger.
