Gregory’s smile vanished instantly, his expression turning cold as he looked at Loule. “Don’t you know how to knock?”
“I was too anxious and forgot.” Louie laughed awkwardly, backing out. “Carry on, guys. Carry on,” he added and made sure he closed the door behind him.
Louie’s interruption annoyed Gregory. But when he glanced at Anathea hiding under the blanket, tenderness flickered in his
eyes.
In the living room, Theo was eating a piece of fruit with a fork.
Adrian casually flipped through a book. Upon noticing Louie, he asked, “How’s Greg doing?”
“He’s doing fine. He’s now busy being affectionate with his wife.” Louie clicked his tongue, feeling like vomiting his breakfast after seeing Gregory and Anathea like that.
When Theo heard that, his chewing slowed as he looked down.
Louie plopped down beside Theo, hooking an arm around his neck as he asked mischievously, “What’s up? Feeling down?”
“None of your business.” Theo swatted Louie’s arm away.
Anathea had rejected Theo. Even though he was slowly letting go of his feelings for her, hearing about Gregory and Anathea being intimate still left a bitter taste in his heart.
He guessed he hadn’t completely let it go yet.
After a short while, Gregory finished washing up. He then put on his clothes and came downstairs. “Morning.”
“Morning,” Adrian replied with a smile, noticing Gregory seemed to be in decent spirits.
“It’s almost ten o’clock. It’s not even morning anymore,” Louie teased.
Gregory said nothing. He walked over to the couch next to them and sat down. “Has that person’s funeral arrangements been taken care of?” he asked in a low voice.
“It’s all settled,” Adrian answered. “He was just an ordinary fisherman, never married, and he hardly had any relatives. He adopted a child years ago, but there was no news after that. He was all alone in the end, with little to no family.”
“That’s strange. Why would Michael go after him?” Louie was puzzled. “If he’s going to pick someone, at least choose someone who could actually threaten us.”
Theo said nothing. Instead, he looked at Gregory.
Last night, only Theo had seen Gregory holding the man who had died of poisoning, his face full of sorrow. Maybe it was just his imagination, but he thought he even saw a tear fall from Gregory’s eye.
Why would Gregory cry over someone he’d never met and had no connection with?
Before he could think further, Gregory looked over and met Theo’s gaze.
“What’s the status of the task I entrusted you to do?” Gregory asked.
Theo snapped back to reality. “Don’t worry. Following the clues, I’ve identified who hired Michael, and I dealt with them last night.”
“Well done.” Gregory’s lips curled into a cold, faint smile as a growing murderous intent appeared in his eyes.
Who would have thought that the man who cried in front of Anathea last night, begging her desperately not to leave, was secretly orchestrating an unbloody battle?

While he was softening Anathea’s heart and falling asleep with her in his arms, a group of people were on their knees, begging for mercy from him.
But so what? No matter how cruel it was, they had to pay the price
“But we haven’t found Michael’s body, and there was no sign of him either. Maybe he got lucky and escaped,” Theo added.
At those words, a frosty chill seemed to emanate from Gregory. “Then, keep searching for him. Next time, I want to see his body. And spare no one who helped him.
At the Sinclair residence, Eleanor was kneeling in the private chapel, hands clasped in prayer.
“That’s your brilliant idea?” shouted an angry man.
It was Harvey Sinclair, Holden’s uncle.
“Please calm down, Harvey,” Eleanor uttered respectfully.
“Calm down?” Harvey snapped, pointing at Eleanor. “Are you going to wait for Gregory to tear us apart before you start worrying?”
