“Had I known this would happen, I would’ve kicked you out the moment you came begging us to work with you. At least you wouldn’t have dragged us with you!” Harvey roared, his voice echoing through the chapel.
“If you want others to hear about this, you might as well use a microphone,” Eleanor replied emotionlessly, unfazed by his barrage of scoldings. “Better yet, why don’t you just tell Lennox? speed up our deaths.”
Harvey was momentarily taken aback by her indifferent attitude. He snorted coldly and lowered his voice. “Enlighten me, then. What’s the point of all this trouble to catch that Micheal person? What exactly are you trying to do?”
Because of Victor’s death, Gregory took out his anger on them and wiped out all of their businesses in Lakeward Shore. Had Harvey not found a scapegoat in time for Gregory to vent his fury on, he would’ve been torn apart by that madman down to the
bone.
He had sacrificed someone to save himself, but he still nearly died
“That fisherman was far from useless,” Eleanor said, smiling faintly.
That man was Gregory’s adoptive father. Victor had raised Gregory until he was ten. But Gregory had been gifted from a young age. He was never meant to spend his life on an ordinary fishing boat and working as a fisherman with Victor.
So, when Eleanor discovered Gregory, she immediately went to find Victor. Without wasting words, she threw down a wad of cash and got straight to the point. “I want your son.”
www him?”
At the time, Victor had only looked at her warily. “Why do you‘
A meaningful curve tugged at Eleanor’s crimson lips.
“I want him to be my son and Mr. Sinclair Senior’s eldest grandson. I want him to be Sinclair Group’s future heir, and perhaps even the next head of the Sinclair family.”
-someone who would realize her She had been confident then that she could mold a 10–year–old into her perfect weapon- ambitions, stir up chaos within the Sinclair family, and ultimately bring the entire family under her control. But with time, the kid she raised only grew wilder and harder to control. In the end, he even turned on her.
Well, then. She would make sure Gregory learned his lesson.
She would show him exactly what happened when one broke free from her grasp.
Victor was Gregory’s weakness. To Gregory, Victor was just as important as his deceased friends. So, Eleanor wanted to drag Gregory back into the nightmare of losing someone he loved. She wanted him to taste that pain all over again.
And she succeeded.
Sure, Harvey had taken the fall for it, but so what? Eleanor enjoyed watching the Sinclair family have inner conflict. The more brutal it was, the better.
Of course, she didn’t show any of that on her face. Instead, she offered a gentle smile and said softly, “In any case, this was a heavy blow to Gregory. With his attention now tied up in purging the businesses in Lakeward Shore, he has no time to focus on the project in Syntherra. That gives us the perfect chance to make our move.”
Harvey frowned slightly. “But—”
“Harvey, don’t forget that Lennox will only let Gregory become the head of the family because of the project in Syntherra. If that project succeeds, he’ll have a firm hold on the position, and there’ll be no shaking him,” Eleanor reminded him.
“But the day after tomorrow is his official appointment as head of the Sinclair family. How could we possibly stop it in time?”
Eleanor smiled calmly. “Even if he takes over the position officially, that doesn’t mean we can’t drag him back down, does it? There’s no need to rush, Harvey. These things require careful planning.”

She remained calm for a reason—she held the secret of Gregory’s true origins, a secret powerful enough to knock him off his pedestal for good.
Hence, before she played her trump card, she had to help lift Gregory higher and higher. Only then would the fall be devastating. But that alone wasn’t enough. If she truly wanted to crush Gregory she had to hit where it hurt most, which was sabotaging the project in Syntherra.
That would be payback for the revenge he took on her before.
Of course, Harvey and the others had no idea about this secret. That was why they were growing impatient.
“Careful planning? It’s more like stalling it on purpose. You’re Gregory’s mother. Don’t tell me you’re paving the way for him.”
There was a brief, almost imperceptible change in Eleanor’s eyes, but she kept smiling. “What mother wouldn’t pave the way for her son?”
