Eleanor stormed in, furious.
“That was quick,” Gregory said with a smirk, then sipped his tea.
“Cut the nonsense. Hand Nat over.” Eleanor’s voice was cold and sharp.
Natalie, held in the side hall, brightened the moment she saw Eleanor. She knew Eleanor would come for her.
All of Gregory’s words were lies. She was not abandoned!
Gregory didn’t answer but instead asked casually, “Mom, you rushed over in such a hurry. But why didn’t you bring Dad? Is it because Natalie isn’t his daughter?”
Eleanor froze, staring daggers at Gregory. A terrible premonition grew inside her. “Nat is our goddaughter. She’s our daughter, of course!”
“Goddaughter?” Gregory chuckled and tossed a document in front of Eleanor. “Is there such a thing as a goddaughter with a 99.8% DNA match?”
Eleanor’s face instantly drained of color.
Before she could respond, Gregory pulled out another document and added flatly, “Oh, the DNA match with Dad was shockingly low. Only-”
“Enough!” Eleanor cut him off sharply. “What do you want?”
“Don’t get so worked up, Mom. I’m not here to do anything bad. I just want to help you reunite with your real daughter.”
Gregory smiled, but the warmth never reached his eyes. “I’m curious, though. How would Dad react if he found out you had a daughter with another man behind his back?”
“Don’t you dare!” Eleanor clenched her fingers tightly. “Don’t forget, I hold your weaknesses too. If it comes down to it, we’ll both go down together!”
As Natalie watched Eleanor’s determined face, tears shimmered in her eyes. She knew Eleanor wouldn’t give up on her.
However, Gregory slowly countered with a question. “Go down together, huh? Then what about your pick? Do you think he still has a shot at taking my position?”
Eleanor faltered, her expression turning ugly.
“You gave up your daughter just to become Mrs. Sinclair. Even if Dad lets it go, that’s still something people can use against you. And if you expose that matter, do you think those in the Sinclair family, who’ve been eyeing the family head position for years, will let you off that easily?
“You want to help me rise to the top, secure the position of the Sinclair family head, and then use that chance to drag me down. But have you thought about this? If I fall, does the person you’ve been betting everything on even have what it takes to take my place?”
As Gregory said that, he rolled up his pants leg, revealing a jagged scar on his calf. He gave Eleanor a meaningful look. “Would you want this kind of wound on his body?”
Eleanor recoiled in fear, covering her mouth.
Gregory set his pants down and calmly asked, “So, Mom, are you really willing to throw away everything you’ve worked for just for a daughter you abandoned long ago?”
Gritting her teeth, Eleanor glared at Gregory. “Are you threatening me?”
“Not a threat. Just a reminder.” Gregory smirked. “A reminder for you to make the right choice.”

As soon as Gregory said that, Holden’s anxious voice called out, “Eleanor!”
Eleanor’s eyes widened, panic flashing through them.
Holden hurried inside and rushed to her side before asking with concern, “Are you okay? You look terrible.”
As Eleanor looked at his concerned expression, she opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. But when she saw him take her hand, she instinctively recoiled and pulled away.
Frowning, Holden turned sharply toward Gregory, who was seated high in the throne chair, and barked, “You brat! What did you say to your mom?”
Gregory just smiled without a word.
Holden’s anger only grew at the arrogant silence. “Do you think just because you’re the head of the family you can act like this? I’m your father! I’ll teach you a lesson if I have to-”
