Chapter 451
Could it be proof that Anathea still had some feelings left for Gregory?
“Annie…” Gregory rested his chin on the blanket wrapped around her head.
But he got no response. Anathea sat completely still, unnervingly quiet.
“Annie?” Gregory paused. A chill suddenly ran down his spine, spreading through his whole body.
He pulled back the blanket covering her face and saw that her eyes were closed. Her pale complexion was almost translucent under the sunlight.
A faint scent of blood hung in the air.
Gregory froze for a moment, then quickly threw off the blanket covering her, only to find a large bloodstain spreading across it. Deep cuts from sharp shards marked her wrist.
“Annie!”
Gregory’s heart–wrenching scream echoed inside the car.
Louie was driving back when Gregory’s call came through. His face paled instantly. “Turn around. Now!”
“What’s wrong?” Adrian asked, confused.
“Anathea cut her wrist.” Louie’s face grew serious.
Adrian was stunned by the news. Surprise filled his eyes.
Anathea had seemed so calm, like nothing was wrong. How could she do something like that?
“The calmer she seems, the more dangerous it is,” Louie muttered regretfully. He was frustrated he hadn’t noticed the state of her mind.
When Anathea slowly regained consciousness, it was already 2:00 am. She had no strength to even open her eyes.
But she could hear Louie’s and Gregory’s voices inside the ward.
“Fortunately, you found out in time. She hasn’t lost much blood, but she still needs to be monitored,” the doctor
said.
“Thank you, doctor.” Gregory lowered his head, his features hidden in the shadow.
“Why do this to yourself?” Louie shook his head helplessly. “Love can’t be forced.”
Gregory remained silent.
“By the way, your full body checkup results will come in tomorrow…” Louie trailed off, catching sight of Anathea slowly opening her eyes. He sighed quietly and ended the conversation. “I’ll contact you then.”
Gregory nodded.
After Louie left, Gregory turned to find Anathea awake.
Her pale face rested against the white pillow, hair strewn messily around her, and her expression was void of life. She looked just like a broken porcelain doll.

Gregory stared at her for a long time before asking in a hoarse voice, “I won’t agree to divorce, so you’re trying to make me a widower?”
Anathea buried her face deeper into the pillow. She didn’t want to look at him and didn’t want to speak.
Though they were physically close, it felt as if a whole galaxy separated them.
Still, Gregory hobbled closer despite his injured leg and softly said, “You haven’t eaten for a long time. Please, eat something. I’m begging you.”
Anathea remained silent.
Gregory had never felt so defeated. Her words echoed in his mind. She had said that as long as he appeared in front of her and breathed the same air as her, she could never rest peacefully.
He lowered his eyes, turned around, and left with heavy steps.
Louie followed, worried Gregory might lose control.
Though Gregory appeared calm, Louie’s eyes caught the hand hanging by his side. His knuckles were white from clenching his fist so tightly. It was clear how much he was bottling up inside.
Louie couldn’t bear it. He grabbed Gregory’s hand and forced open his clenched fingers one by one. “Are you waiting until the blood vessels in your hand burst before you feel better?”
The back of Gregory’s hand, already pierced by needles, showed faint bruising.
“Rest a bit. If you keep this up, you won’t have many years left to live.” Louie pulled him down onto a couch and handed him a glass of water.
Gregory didn’t say a word, only took the glass and brought it to his lips.
At that moment, a nurse came out and shook her head. “Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Sinclair still refuses to eat.”
