Chapter 457
Theo’s expression grew serious. “Right now, you and everyone around you are in danger. Are you sure you want to keep being this stubborn?“.
He was implying more than just the obvious.
Gregory wasn’t stupid. He knew what Theo meant, but his face remained expressionless. “Thank you for everything. I’ll have Adrian follow up on things from here. You don’t need to get involved anymore.”
“Gregory, do you really not understand, or are you just pretending not to?” Theo frowned deeply. Gregory didn’t reply. He just kept his head down, staring at the bracelet in his hand.
Seeing him like this made Theo’s anger boil over.
“I’ll make you regret the decision you just made.” With that, he walked away without looking back.
Only after Theo’s footsteps faded did Gregory lift his head. His gaze lingered on Anathea’s ward for a long time.
To regain strength for her escape, Anathea started eating actively over the next two days and kept a regular routine. Her face, once as pale as paper, began to regain some color.
Hannah brought Chloe to visit and was surprised by how quickly Anathea was recovering.
Anathea could even get out of bed and walk around a little, but there were still several guards outside her ward, watching her every move.
She hated being monitored like that, so most of her activities were limited to the room.
Just as she was slowly moving around, the door was pushed open.
“Hannah, why are you here so early today?” Anathea assumed it was Hannah, so she reached out her hand. “Help me up. I’ve been walking for an hour, and I’m a bit tired.”
The next moment, a strong hand grasped her elbow. A warm amber scent brushed past her nose. It was familjar,
yet strange.
Anathea was stunned for a moment. She turned toward the visitor and locked eyes with Dominic.
His eyes were amber, perfectly matching the scent he carried.
“Mr. Lancaster?” Anathea instinctively pulled her hand back, keeping a cautious distance.
Dominic smiled at her wary reaction. “Ms. Jacobson, is this how you treat your lifesaver?”
She knew Dominic had donated blood to her when she was Hemorrhaging, so she politely replied, “If you ever need a blood donation in return, I’d be honored to help.”
“You sound like you’re cursing me.” Dominic raised his eyebrows with a teasing smile.
“Not at all. I’m sincerely thanking you,” Anathea said with a half–smile.
Truth be told, she held some personal grudge against Dominic. He had bullied Hannah, so she wasn’t about to miss a chance to get some payback for her.
Dominic caught the unfriendliness in her eyes but didn’t care. His smile deepened. “Looks like you’re recovering well.”

“I guess so.“!
Anathea, tired from standing, wobbled toward the couch. Dominic quickly steadied her and helped her sit down.
“You just recovered. Don’t push yourself too hard,” he reminded gently.
Anathea frowned in confusion. For some reason, Dominic’s tone was oddly like a caring elder lecturing a junior, which struck her as strange.
Plus, his expression seemed hesitant, as if he were holding back something.
Anathea didn’t want to beat around the bush. “Mr. Lancaster, if you have something to say, just say it.”
“Well, you’d better be prepared.” Dominic exhaled and locked eyes with her.
His amber eyes shimmered under the sunlight like glass beads. They were truly beautiful.
Though he was nervous himself, he took out a report and handed it to Anathea. “Take a look at this first.”
Anathea was puzzled but still took the report.
When she saw the data on the report, she visibly froze. She looked up at Dominic with surprise and disbelief.
