Chapter 470
Olivia’s eyes lit up at the sight of the handsome man standing behind Anathea, “My, my, Ms. Jacobson. Care to explain yourself?
”
“This is the new assistant intern in my office, Thomas Morgenstein,” Anathea introduced briefly.
Thomas flashed a courteous and respectful smile at Olivia, extending a hand toward her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Olivia shook his hand and raised a brow playfully at Anathea. “Talk about excellent taste! Even your assistant’s hot!”
Anathea shrugged. “I can’t help that hot men are drawn to me.”
“That’s the Anathea charm for you.” Olivia chuckled, then asked a rather loaded question, “But is he really… just your assistant?
Olivia’s meaningful, prying gaze betrayed her wild assumptions as it darted between Anathea and Thomas, so intense that it could undoubtedly spin an entire cinematic saga at this point.
Thomas froze upon hearing Olivia’s question and blushed as he glanced at Anathea, awaiting her answer.
“Of course.” Anathea stood up. “It’s getting late. I should head back. Let’s meet soon, okay?”
“Oh, leaving so soon?” Olivia pulled a face at Anathea. “Don’t tell me you’re getting shy all of a sudden!”
Anathea made no reply as she left. Thomas nodded once at Olivia before hurrying after Anathea.
As Olivia watched Anathea and Thomas leave, she clicked her tongue. “With their looks, they certainly make a handsome couple, though I think Mr. Sinclair is just a tad hotter than this young assistant. But that doesn’t matter as long as Anathea’s happy.”
A relieved smile curved Olivia’s lips.
Anathea felt like she was walking on clouds. Thomas held her to keep her upright, as was necessary, and said gently, “Take it easy, Ana.”
Anathea suddenly stopped in her tracks and cut a sidelong glance at Thomas. Her eyes narrowed slightly.
“Is something wrong, Ana?” Thomas asked, baffled by the look on her face.
“The birth date on your ID states that you’re three years older than I am. Are you sure you want to keep pretending you’re younger?” Anathea asked.
She wondered what cosmetic procedure Thomas had undergone to look far younger than his actual age. At first, she’d truly believed he was younger than her, only to be surprised when she found out he was three years older than her.
It was rather strange that he was calling her “Ana” like a kid who couldn’t manage her full name; it made her feel older by a lot, and she wouldn’t stand for it.
“Sorry, force of habit.” A soft chuckle escaped Thomas before he pressed tentatively, “Maybe I could call you ‘N. Holstrom does. Is that okay?”
“Sure, if you want to be fired,” Anathea said flatly, though the warning in her voice was clear.
Ms.
“Okay, got it, Ms. Jacobson.” Thomas immediately assumed a more respectful tone. “Do I have permission to escort you back to the hotel, O most esteemed Ms. Jacobson?”
The corner of Anathea’s mouth twitched. She handed Thomas her car keys and rounded the vehicle to slip into the backseat.
She’d had a lot to drink, and her head was heavy. She closed her eyes to get some rest, but the churning in her stomach was relentless enough that she couldn’t help but frown.

Anathea had made fun of Evangeline for being a lightweight, but in reality, she was no better.

But the next second, she caught a whiff of hangover soup. She opened her eyes in confusion, only to see Thomas opening a flask filled with hangover soup.
He poured some of the soup into the mug and handed it to her. “Have some of this, Ms. Jacobson. It’ll make you feel better.”
“You’re pretty thoughtful for an assistant.” Anathea took the mug and sipped the soup gingerly. It was hot and warmed her stomach, easing her discomfort.
“Does that mean I pass probation?” Thomas asked hopefully.
“That’s a matter of the studio’s standard procedure.” In other words, no dice.
Thomas‘ face fell, but he quickly recovered from his disappointment. “In that case, I’ll work extra hard to pass probation and become the best assistant, Ms. Jacobson!”
Anathea couldn’t help but find his goal puzzling. “You’re capable enough to try and apply for other, better jobs. Why are you settling for an assistant position?”
The moment she took charge of Eden Studio’s Grendova branch and put up a vacancy notice for an assistant, Thomas had applied right away.
Upon meeting her inquisitive gaze, Thomas smiled. “I like trying out new stuff. I even learned to fix cars before I became a chef. I picked up floral design after that.
“In short, I’ll try anything I’m interested in and give it my best. Life’s too short not to try out different things; only then can we live life to the fullest.”
