Chapter 498
Shirley let out a disdainful laugh. “Some things are better left unsaid, you know, or else when it comes back to slap you in the face, it’ll sting like hell.”
Anathea ignored her provocation and turned to Chloe, crouching down and speaking gently, “Chloe, can you tell me exactly what happened in detail?”
Chloe nodded. “I was doing crafts with my friend. Samuel tried to shatch my work from me, but I wouldn’t let him, so he started calling me names. I stood up because I wanted to find the teacher, but he thought I was going to hit him and got scared. He fell and hit his chin on the table.”
“Is that everything?” Anathea asked.
A hint of sadness flickered in Chloe’s eyes, but she still nodded. “Yeah.”
“You’re lying! You pushed me! The other kids saw it too! Your hand was out–you were going to push me! They all saw it!” Samuel rebuked angrily.
Chloe frowned. “You were falling, and I tried to catch you.”
“Liar! You’re not even a nice person!” Samuel stomped his feet and cried to Shirley, “Aunt Shirley, she pushed me! Ask the other kids!”
Emily quickly brought in the students who had been in the classroom at the time and asked them one by one.
The classmate who had been doing crafts with Chloe said that Chloe didn’t push Samuel. He fell on his own.
“You guys are friends. Of course, she’d lie for you!” Samuel retorted.
Some of the other kids said they hadn’t seen clearly, while a few said they saw Chloe reach out her hand, looking as though she was going to push Samuel.
“I didn’t!” Chloe’s eyes were turning red. Hannah’s heart ached at the sight.
“I know. You wouldn’t lie, Chloe.” Anathea gave a soft smile and gently wiped away the tears brimming in Chloe’s eyes with he thumb.
Then, Anathea turned to look at Shirley and Emily. “Even though there’s no surveillance footage, and the kids all gave different answers, I have other evidence.”
“What?” A hint of surprise flashed in Hannah’s eyes.
Shirley frowned.
Samuel instinctively fidgeted with his fingers, looking a bit guilty.
Just then, there was a knock at the office door. A small figure peeked in. “Hello, Ms. Garcia,” he greeted sweetly.
“Xander? What are you doing here?” Emily asked in surprise.
“I came to find my mom.” Xander walked over to Anathea, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Mom, it’s been so long. I’ve missed you,” he uttered longingly.
“You’re Xander’s mom?” Emily was shocked. She was new and only knew that Xander was a Sinclair, but she didn’t know who his mother was.
“Yeah.” Anathea ruffled Xander’s hair, then spoke gently. “Go ahead and play what you recorded on your watch.”
Xander nodded and tapped a few times on his smartwatch, pulling up a video before pressing play.
The video showed Samuel and Chloe in the middle of an argument

“Give it to me!”
“No! Make your own!”
“I won’t! Give it to me now! Or none of you are getting anything!”
The craft fell to the ground, smashing into pieces.
“Samuel! You have to pay for that!”
“It’s just a stupid thing! Why are you getting so worked up?”
“It’s not stupid! We spent so much time making it!”
“So what? You’re a brat without a dad. Your time is not worth anything!”
At that, Hannah’s expression instantly changed.
Samuel swallowed nervously because that sentence had struck a nerve with Chloe, which made her furious.
“Shut up! I’m not a brat! I have a mom and a dad!”
“Yeah right. Then how come no one’s ever seen your dad? Probably because you don’t even have one! Hahaha!”
On screen, Chloe could no longer hold back and suddenly stood up.
Samuel, who was in the middle of laughing, froze. He was intimidated by Chloe’s red, teary eyes and the fierce look in them.
