Chapter 500
Hannah looked at Anathea’s side profile, feeling a surge of emotions at once–surprise, a bit of shock, but more than anything, gratitude and relief.
She’d known Anathea for so many years. She’d always known that Anathea had an unyielding spirit beneath her gentle demeanor. It was just that after marriage, Anathea’s sharp edges had been worn down quite a bit.
But now, that version of Anathea–the one with fire and attitude–was finally back.
“Anathea!” Shirley roared, clutching her burning cheek. Her eyes were blazing with fury. “I only gave you a little leeway because you’re Mr. Sinclair’s wife! Don’t push your luck!”
She was the dignified eldest daughter of the Watson family, treated with reverence her whole life. She had never been slapped. “You should say that to yourself. Don’t push your luck,” Anathea replied without the slightest shift in tone.
“You!” Furious, Shirley raised her hand, wanting to slap Anathea back.
But before she could get anywhere near Anathea, Hannah caught her wrist tightly.
“There’s solid proof now. Your nephew was the one who caused this mess. If you don’t want this to blow up even more, I suggest you get lost.”
Hannah glared at Shirley sharply. Her tall, commanding presence at six feet and eight inches, combined with her naturally fierce looks, was an instant blow to Shirley’s confidence.
Shirley gritted her teeth, trying to yank her wrist free, but Hannah was stronger.
After several useless tugs, Shirley finally lost it. “Let go!”
Hannah didn’t budge. When Shirley gave another hard yank, Hannah let go.
“Ah!” Shirley staggered backward, nearly falling to the floor.
“Aunt Shirley!” Samuel rushed over to support her. “Are you okay?”
Shirley shot Samuel a look full of disappointment and rage. Had he not started this mess and lied about it, she wouldn’t have been humiliated like this.
“Get out of my face!” she snapped, shaking his hand off.
Then, she turned to glare at Hannah as though she wanted to skin the latter alive.
But Hannah didn’t flinch at all. She just stood tall, looking down at Shirley fearlessly. The intensity of her presence alone made Shirley uneasy.
Realizing she hadn’t brought her bodyguards with her today, Shirley could only fume as she turned on her heel and stormed out.
The sharp clack of high heels slammed against the floor, echoing down the hallway. Each step was a vent for Shirley’s anger.
“Aunt Shirley, wait for me!” Samuel tried to follow, but Anathea blocked his path with her foot.
“Hey, you think you can just walk away after what you did?” Anathea smiled faintly.
Samuel instinctively swallowed hard. He didn’t know why, but even though Anathea’s smile was beautiful, it gave him a strange sense of pressure.
“W–What do you want?” he stammered nervously.
Shirley was gone now, and he was all alone. He was scared.
Emily stood on the side silently. She couldn’t afford to offend anyone who was present here, be it children or adults.

“Since you were the one at fault, shouldn’t you at least apologize? Anathea asked calmly.
Samuel’s eyes darted around. “1–I don’t want to get on my knees.
He couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. They started to fall.
If word of this got out, how was he supposed to face his classmates ever again?
“So, you do know that asking someone to kneel and apologize is way over the line, huh? Why didn’t you think about that before demanding my daughter do it, then?” Hannah scolded, displeased
“Yeah! You’re mean!” Xander chimed in from the side.
Hearing that, Samuel started sobbing louder.
“Stop crying!” Hannah was annoyed.
Anathea patted Hannah’s shoulder to calm her down before turning to Chloe, asking softly, “Chloe, what do you want him to do? We’ll go with whatever you decide.”
After all, Chloe was the one who’d been hurt. Everything they did now should be for her.
