Chapter 508
Anathea paused, still holding her spoon, and gently said, “No, Grandma. I’ll just slow down.”
Brisa looked puzzled and let out a sigh. “Why are you in such a rust to leave? Is it because I’m too naggy? Or because I lied to you? Do you not even want to spare me a glance anymore?”
Her voice was tinged with sadness and disappointment.
“Of course not,” Anathea said, shaking her head to ease Brisa’s worries. “I just-
“Well, that’s good,” Brisa smiled, cutting her off. “I’ll have Dalia get your room ready for you and Greg. You should stay the night and get some rest.”
Before Anathea could protest, Brisa was already up and giving orders.
Anathea couldn’t help but feel a little helpless as she watched Brisa happily bustling about. At the same time, she glanced toward Gregory, who was resting with his eyes closed on the couch.
Her mind drifted back to when he had gently rubbed her forehead earlier. She stirred her bowl of white fish chowder absentmindedly.
Dalia worked fast. In no time, the room was spotless and freshly made up with clean sheets and bedding.
Not wanting Brisa to overthink it, Anathea quickly helped Gregory upstairs and gently settled him onto the bed.
He was clearly drunk, and the scent of alcohol hit her as soon as she leaned in.
It struck her as odd. Given Gregory’s status, even the most important social engagements shouldn’t require him to drink so much.
Still, she didn’t dwell on it. Looking at his half–lidded eyes and dazed expression, she said softly, “I’ll get you some warm pumpkin soup to help with the hangover. You should rest for now.
Gregory gave a low grunt in response, leaning back against the headboard. His gaze followed her quietly, and she felt oddly self-
conscious.
She hung his jacket on the rack. Just as she was about to leave, he suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Where are you going?”
“To the kitchen,” she replied.
She had to go to the kitchen to make the pumpkin soup, even if it was a bit of a walk.
“That’s too much trouble,” he said. “Just make some chamfiomile tea. You’ll find it in the storage cabinet outside.”
She did as he said and stepped into the hallway. Sure enough, the tea bags were there, along with a cup of warm water Dalia had already set out.
She didn’t even need to go downstairs to the kitchen. This was definitely much more convenient.
When she came back into the room, Gregory was resting with his eyes closed. It was hard to tell if he was asleep.
“The chandelier had been turned off, leaving only the warm glow of the bedside lamp. The soft amber light washed over his face, accentuating the sharp contours of his features. But somehow, he looked gentler now.
As she looked at him now, she couldn’t help but feel that “gentle and refined” had never suited anyone more. I‘

different from the cold, unyielding man he showed to the world.
She placed the chamomile tea on the nightstand and gently nudged him. “Your tea’s ready.”
He didn’t move, as if he really had fallen asleep.
Anathea had had her fair share of nights like this. She knew how painful hangovers could be, so she nudged him again. “Gregory.

Anathea nodded. “I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Given everything between them, sharing a bed didn’t feel right.
“I’ll go out and give you some space,” he said as he got up.

Their eyes met. At that moment, Anathea clearly saw her own reflection in his reddened eyes, along with an emotion she couldn’t quite decipher.

She blinked and quickly looked away before handing him the chamomile tea. “Drink this.”
He took it and drank most of it in one go. “It’s late. You should stay here tonight.”
Anathea nodded. “I’ll sleep on the couch.”
