In the end, Louie still managed to convince Gregory to attend the party with him.
However, throughout the ride, Gregory seemed distracted and absent–minded.
“What’s going on? Why the long face?” Louie asked curiously. “Are you that unhappy to be with me?”
Gregory tugged at the corner of his lips. “Glad you noticed.”
“Stay grumpy, then,” Louie muttered, annoyed. “You had the nerve to drink alcohol behind my back. Clearly, you don’t take any
of my warnings seriously. Someone in my past life must’ve cursed me so badly that I end up having someone like you who doesn’t follow medical advice.”

Gregory didn’t respond.
Soon, they arrived at the Lancaster residence.
As soon as they got out, they saw Theo arriving at the party as well.
The moment Gregory and Theo’s eyes met, both of them paused mid–step.
Gregory’s expression remained composed, but Theo looked uneasy
He felt that the incident last time had created a subtle rift between them.
Still, he had no regrets. He had only wanted to help Anathea, even if it meant upsetting Gregory.
Theo believed he did nothing wrong. However, when he saw Gregory still focusing on Anathea despite his grave internal injuries, and when Gregory whispered her name repeatedly before being taken into surgery, Theo understood that Gregory’s feelings for Anathea ran far deeper than anything an ordinary person could ever hope to compare to.
Theo felt ashamed of himself. Since Gregory was discharged, he hadn’t had the courage to face Gregory.
So now, as soon as Theo saw Gregory, his first instinct was to avoid Gregory.
He figured Gregory probably didn’t want to see him either.
Yet, Gregory greeted him with a slight nod.
Theo was stunned. His fingers curled slightly, and he was unsure of what to do.
“Why are you still standing out here? Are you trying to moonlight as a doorman?” Louie quickly stepped in to smooth things
over.
He slung his arm over Thoe’s shoulder before hooking the other onto Gregory’s arm. “Come on. Let’s head in!”
Theo stole a cautious glance at Gregory. Seeing that Gregory didn’t seem intent on holding a grudge, Theo quietly let out a sigh of relief and asked with concern, “How are you?”
“Fine. I’m out of serious threats,” Gregory replied calmly.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Theo nodded slightly, looking a little uneasy.
“Let’s schedule a race sometime. Adrian will cover the track fee.”
At that, a spark lit up in Theo’s eyes. “Sure!”
“Your eyes always light up at the mention of racing,” Louie teased “By the way, isn’t it about time you went through with that engagement to Ms. Lancaster?”
Theo’s expression gradually dimmed as he murmured, “Yeah.”
He didn’t have the right to say no.

When Louie told him that Anathea and Gregory had divorced, he’d been overwhelmed with excitement because he could finally pursue Anathea openly without feeling guilty.
But then came the news of the engagement, and it crushed his soaring hopes in an instant.
It seemed Theo and Anathea were not meant to be.
Of course, Louie noticed the drop in Theo’s mood and gave his shoulder a pat. “It’ll be fine. Dominic is handsome, which means Ms. Lancaster is stunning, too. She’s beautiful and rich–count yourself lucky!”
Theo fell silent.
He didn’t care about how beautiful or well–off someone else might be. He only cared about the person he liked.
But in the end, he didn’t say what was on his mind as he followed Gregory and Louie into the party venue, going through the motions as people came up to them to flatter them and make conversation.
“Wait, where’s Dominic? Why is he not here when it’s his sister’s party?” Louie asked curiously.
“Mr. Lancaster is on a business trip. He’ll be back later,” replied a maid.
Just then, not far off, a crowd had gathered as if something interesting was happening.
“What’s going on over there?”
Always the gossip, Louie immediately dragged Theo along to check it out.
Gregory stayed where he was, his gaze unintentionally drifting toward the second floor. When he caught sight of a graceful figure in a gown, his hand holding the wine glass paused slightly.
At the same time, Hannah frowned as the guard pointed at her.
“What’s going on? Did she steal the necklace?”
