“What are you doing?” Anathea snapped.
Before she could react, Gregory had already grabbed her wrist and yanked her into his arms.
The sharp scent of cedarwood wrapped around her. For a split second, her heartbeat faltered. But she quickly steadied herself, shook off his hand, and stepped back to create distance.
“Mr. Sinclair, if you’re going to lose your mind, at least have the decency to pick a better place for it!”
Her voice was ice–cold. “There are eyes everywhere. Try not to embarrass yourself.”
But in the very next second, Gregory bent down and wrapped an arm around her waist, then lifted her clean off the floor.
“Gregory!” Anathea yelped, pounding her fists on his back. “What the hell is wrong with you? Put me down!”
Gregory didn’t even flinch. As he walked, he shot a deadly glare toward the man who had dared invite Anathea to dance.
That man instantly froze, too intimidated to move. After all, Gregory was the head of the prestigious Sinclair family from Castenea. Even Zach had to show him respect, let alone a nobody like him.
Gregory looked down at the man, who clearly couldn’t wait to bolt, and let out a disdainful snort. Then, he strode off toward the Lancaster residence’s backyard with Anathea in his arms.
From a distance, Louie watched Gregory storm off like a man possessed. Anathea’s punches to down.

“Who?” Theo asked in confusion. He had just returned from the restroom.
“No one.” Louie looked at him with a touch of sympathy in his eyes. He raised a hand and gave his shoulder a reassuring pat.‘ Don’t worry, man. Sure, luck isn’t always on your side. But hey, you’ve still got me by your side.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Theo stared at him, baffled. “Since when do I need you to be by my side?”
“Shhh. Come here. Bring it in for a hug.” Louie opened his arms wide with exaggerated affection.
Theo instantly got goosebumps and snapped, “Get lost, you creep!!

Anathea glanced at Gregory’s jealous expression and let out a mocking laugh. “Are you actually… jealous?”
“Yes,” Gregory admitted without hesitation.
Not just jealous. He was dying of it.
Anathea blinked, caught off guard. She hadn’t expected the usually uptight and repressed Gregory to be so blunt.
Then she caught a whiff of the alcohol on him, and everything made sense.
Drunk Gregory was practically a different man from his usual calm and collected self.
The difference?
Usually, he was a dangerous, predatory wolf. Right now, he was more like a golden retriever, shamelessly clingy and desperate for attention.
“Annie, don’t dance with them. Please?”
His deep eyes shimmered with a boozy haze.

“I’m different,” he argued, though his voice dipped a little, probably because Anathea’s sharp glare shook his confidence.
His gaze dropped to her lips.
He had kissed them red and swollen. They looked even more tempting now.
His throat bobbed.
But Anathea’s voice turned cold. “Different? Don’t flatter yourself. We’re divorced. To me, you’re no different than any other random man in that room.”
“I am different,” Gregory said seriously. “For one, I look better than all of them.”
He paused, then added solemnly, “And not just a little better.”
