Chapter 544
“Doctor, how’s my dad?” Anathea asked anxiously.
“Mr. Jacobson’s fingers showed some response earlier, and there were some obvious changes in his vitals that indicate he may soon regain consciousness. He should wake up in the next 24 hours,” the doctor explained by way of comforting Anathea.
“I see. Thank you, doctor.” Anathea looked like a weight had been lifted off her chest. It was true: her father would wake up soon. Her gaze fell on Adam, who lay still on the bed, her emotions like a tempest.
Meanwhile, the doctor stopped before Gregory and addressed the latter respectfully, “Mr. Sinclair, these are the previous
medical records from the doctor abroad. Please have a look.”
Gregory took the records and nodded slightly. “Thank you.”
“Oh, don’t mention it, Mr. Sinclair. This is all in a day’s work,” the doctor replied sycophantically. “It’s our honor to serve you.”
After all, Gregory had made them an offer more lucrative than anything they’d imagined! It shocked ever doctor, whose eyes had nearly bugged out of his head when he saw the contract and said, “Mr. Sinclair

Anathea glanced at the blonde–haired, blue–eyed doctors from abroad, all of whom had treated Adam before. Her gaze flickered. Did this mean Gregory had hired all those famous doctors from abroad for Adam’s benefit?
She cast a sidelong look at Gregory. He’d been staring at her since she arrived. When their eyes met, she blinked, and her long lashes fluttered.
But the next second, Theo interjected, “It’s getting late. Your father won’t be waking up so soon. Why don’t we head back and get some rest? We can always return and see him after he wakes.”
Anathea shook her head. “I want to stay.”
She wouldn’t be at ease until she’d seen Adam come to.
More importantly, Anathea hadn’t been looking at Theo when she spoke. She’d directed her gaze elsewhere as if to avoid looking at him. Could it have something to do with his proclamation of love earlier?
Theo lowered his gaze. Had his impulsiveness unsettled her? He brushed this off and decided to take it slow for now. They had plenty of time to work things out in the future anyway.
“I’ll stay with you, then,” he said with a nod, shrugging off his jacket and draping it over Anathea’s shoulders. “The wind’s picking up outside. I don’t want you catching a cold.”
Anathea was about to turn him down on instinct, but his hands were firm on her shoulders.“Mrs. Jacobson gave me strict instructions to take good care of you. Listen to your mother.”
“When did you and my mom become so close?” Anathea asked in surprise. From the sound of it, Fiona must be rather fond of
Theo.
“That’s a secret,” Theo recalled what Fiona had told him and smiled.
Gregory noted how closely Theo and Anathea stood together, chatting as if they were alone in the room. It was as if whatever was happening around them didn’t matter at all.
He stared at Theo’s arm, which was wrapped around Anathea, but did not show even a trace of emotion. His face remained as impassive as ever.
When Louie emerged from the hospital room and saw this, he cut a knowing look at Adrian and raised a brow. Adrian returned this with a smile.
Others might not have noticed Gregory’s fists clenching at his sides, but Louie and Adrian certainly had. The veins on the back of his hands were close to bursting, and he looked like he wanted to put a bullet through Theo’s head.

But Louie was a fan of Gregory’s jealous, repressed side. He thought Gregory deserved it for always using Giselle to bait him. Retribution was sweet!
Shoving his hands into his pockets, Louie casually sauntered up to Adrian and Gregory. “Well, I think everything’s pretty settled here. The two of you should go back.”
“Sounds good to me,” Adrian said good–naturedly. “See you around.”
Louie watched him leave, then eyed Gregory with faint amusement. “Is something keeping you here, Mr. Sinclair? Adrian’s already left, you know. Do you intend to stay here with me for the night?
“I must warn you, though, my bed’s too small for both of us. But if you were hoping to fall asleep cuddling, I don’t mind.”
He winked at Gregory.
Gregory shot him a withering look, then wordlessly stormed to the other end of the corridor.
