Gregory smirked. Anathea was momentarily takeit aback. The sunlight shone against his neatly cropped hair, making it almost dazzling.
But the next moment, he shifted into a serious tone and began coaching her. “Your posture was off during practice earlier. If you keep hitting like that, you’ll risk twisting your ankle or straining vir back. Adjust your form,”
He demonstrated the correct posture for her and added quietly, “Don’t feel pressured. Just relax and play naturally. If you’re unsure, think about how you play badminton.”
A faint light flickered in Anathea’s eyes as she nodded. “Got it.”
The match began with a coin toss to decide who would serve first. Fortune favored Shirley and Frederick–they won the toss and took the serve.
“Let’s have a good game, Mr. Sinclair,” Frederick nodded respectfully to Gregory.
When he glanced at Anathea, his eyes held a sharper edge of hostility.
He exchanged a meaningful look with Shirley, who immediately caught on. They targeted Anathea with every shot. However, Gregory caught each ball effortlessly, turning the match into an intense two–against–one struggle.
Watching the tense scene, Dayanna asked Macon curiously, “Darling, who do you think will win?”
Macon handed her a peeled grape and said, “Well, I’m not sure.”
But deep down, he knew that no matter who won today, it would still benefit Presgrave Group. Either way, they were the true
winners.
Dayanna understood his unspoken meaning and stopped worrying She contentedly ate the grape as she focused on the match.
On the court, Gregory’s stamina, reflexes, and explosive strength were exceptional. Even without Anathea on the court, neither Shirley nor Frederick could match him alone.
Shirley and Frederick quickly noticed the imbalance and switched tactics. They aimed wide shots to force Gregory to run across the court, hoping to wear him down.
During one brief pause, Shirley smiled slyly.
She struck the ball hard, not aiming for an open spot on the court–but directly at Anathea. There was no mistaking the personal grudge behind the move.
Anathea barely dodged, but the shot still grazed her arm, causing her to lose the point and handing the other side a break opportunity.
“Are you alright?” Gregory asked as he quickly stepped in to support her.
She shook her head, feeling a sting in her arm where the ball had grazed her.
“Oh dear, I’m so sorry, Ms. Jacobson,” Shirley offered insincerely. But you know how it is–accidents happen on the court all the time.”
“You’re right, Ms. Watson,” Anathea said with a faint, tight–lipped smile.
The game resumed quickly. Emboldened by their earlier success, Shirley and Frederick continued to wear Gregory down with long rallies, waiting for an opening to target Anathea again.
Sure enough, Gregory’s pace noticeably slowed after returning one ball.
“Now’s our chance!”
Frederick’s eyes lit up with excitement as he sent the ball toward Anathea. He hadn’t used much force because he was convinced
