Anathea couldn’t have sounded more arrogant if she tried. She even went out of her way to throw Shirley’s own words right back ather.
Shirley’s already flushed face turned pale with anger, while Fredek’s expression darkened.
Gregory turned to look at Anathea. He had rarely seen this fierce, yielding side of her. She was intriguing.
Shirley gritted her teeth so hard that it sounded like they might crack. Her sharp glare looked as if it could shred Anathea into pieces.
“You’d better watch out,” she hissed.
She and Frederick quickly switched positions so that Shirley could directly target Anathea.
Frederick sensed something wasn’t right and tried to talk her down, but Shirley was far too worked up. “I don’t care anymore. I’m going to make her beg for mercy!”
If she couldn’t put Anathea in her place, then she might as well not be Shirley Watson..
Seeing no way to calm her, Frederick reluctantly went along with it
The match resumed. This time, Anathea and Gregory were serving.
Shirley gripped her racket tightly, glaring at Anathea. The moment the ball came her way, she wouldn’t hold back. She would hit with everything she had, just to make Anathea feel what it was like to be on the receiving end.
Just as Shirley gathered all her strength to receive Anathea’s shot, Anathea suddenly angled the ball sharply with surprising force. With a sharp ping, the ball flew diagonally across the court at a speed and angle neither Shirley nor Frederick could reach.
Shirley froze. Frederick darted toward the ball, but it was too late. It had already hit the ground and rolled gently to a stop.
Frederick hesitated. A flicker of suspicion crossed his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by astonishment.
“An ace?” he muttered in disbelief.
Macon’s eyes lit up as he glanced at Anathea and then at Dayanna. Are you sure Ms. Jacobson is really a beginner?”
“She must be,” Dayanna replied, feeling slightly surprised. “She was still learning from Mr. Sinclair just recently, but her ability to learn is impressive. Honestly, I think this project needs someone as capable as her.”
Her meaning was clear.
Macon nodded thoughtfully and handed Dayanna a cup of coffee. Just the way you like it–lightly sweetened, no milk, and the perfect temperature. Have a sip.”
She smiled and took a sip. “It’s delicious.”
Macon offered her a biscuit, and the atmosphere in the rest area was relaxed, though the tension on the court was rising.
Anathea had just scored two consecutive aces, giving their side 20 points without Frederick and Shirley even touching the ball.
“I can’t believe this,” Shirley grumbled, wiping the sweat from her forehead. “Frederick, are you even holding up? If she wins two more points, we’re at break point.”
Ignoring Shirley’s complaints, Frederick steadied his breath and locked his gaze on Anathea.
After another sharp, tricky serve from her, he lunged forward, slid his knee across the grass, and twisted his arm to return the ball. Returning the serve was the only way to stay in the game.
Seeing this, Shirley snapped back into the game, thinking their opening had finally come, only to get entangled in another exchange with Gregory.

It took all their strength just to handle his returns, and they rallie hrought several Intense exchanges across the net.
“Is he some sort of monster?” Frederick muttered, gritting his teeth.
Eventually, he spotted an opportunity and slammed the ball toward Anathea
It was as if Anathea had anticipated his move all along. She braced herself and struck the ball with precision–this time not toward Shirley’s face, but straight at her arm.
It was a perfect payback for the shot Shirley had aimed at her earlier.
Shirley cried out in pain, nearly losing her temper on the spot.
“Anathea!” she screamed through gritted teeth.
Anathea simply gave a shrug. “Oops, my bad.”
Shirley looked ready to explode.
Gregory glanced at Anathea, smirking slightly. “You’re surprisingly vengeful.”
“You know me too well,” Anathea replied with a sly, half–smile.
Gregory said nothing more. He simply continued watching her intently.
Her outfit suited her perfectly, and her movements on the court were effortlessly sharp. With her long hair tied back, the
sunlight caught each strand, making them gleam as she moved.
