Chapter 587
Adrian’s mouth twitched, and he gave Louie a helpless shrug.
Louie just looked dead inside. He was starting to wonder if he was ill a neurosurgeon or had somehow turned into a babysitter. “Fine! Do whatever the hell you want!” Louie threw up his hands, fed up.
He pointed at Gregory and Theo. “If I ever rush over here again for something like this, I swear I’ll be a damn loser!”
He turned and stormed off. But on the way out, he smacked his hand on the corner of a table. The pain had him baring his teeth. Great. Now all four of them in this room couldn’t even make up one set of functional limbs.
Adrian just sighed and shook his head.
Before leaving, Louie gave Gregory and Theo another stern warning–especially Gregory, who’d nearly pushed his body to the edge. If they pulled anything like this again, he didn’t care if they dropped dead. He wasn’t coming back
And with that, he walked out of the boxing gym without looking back.
Outside, Giselle was leaning against the car with a cigarette between her fingers.
The evening breeze swept by. Through the curls of smoke, her face looked even more refined, with even her strands of hair taking on a seductive allure.
When Giselle saw Louie approaching, the cigarette paused just at her lips, and she lifted one eyebrow ever so slightly.
As he got closer, she slowly blew a perfect ring of smoke right into his face. Watching him cough, she smirked. “Dr. Anderson, that was fast.”
Frowning, Louie snatched the cigarette right out of her hand, stomped it out, and tossed it in the trash.
“Hey!” Giselle shot him an annoyed glance. “Do you have any idea how much that one costs?”
“I don’t care how much it costs. You’re not smoking anymore,” Louie said flatly.
Giselle tilted her head and gave him a slow once–over before smirking. “You’re quite domineering, huh?”
Louie simply replied, “It’s getting late. You should head back.”
With that, he clutched his bruised hand and turned to leave.
But before he could leave, Giselle caught his wrist. “You’re hurt?”
Louie glanced down at his elbow, where he had been hit. Just as he was about to say it was nothing, Giselle had already taken his medical kit and was pushing him toward the car.
“Get in. Sit.”
Louie was stunned but obeyed.
She sprayed the injury with pain–relief spray, then disappeared briefly and came back with a cup of ice. She press against his arm through the cup.
“I told you, you don’t have to…”
Louie looked up and met Giselle’s eyes just inches away. His voice trailed off and faded away.

She sprayed the injury with pain relief, then disappeared for a moment before returning with a cup of ice, which she gently pressed against his arm through the cup.
And this Giselle didn’t seem like the same cold, heartless woman back then.

His mind spun back to the day they broke up.
They were at a fancy restaurant. The glass revolving door spam like carousel. The sunset cast golden light over the shimmering river.
Giselle had stared at him coldly. “Louie, I was just playing you these past four years. I’ve been using you as a stand in terane you look like my first love, who’s married. After my heartbreak, 1 persued you to distract myself. me that he’s divered, it’s time for us to end this.”
Louie still remembered the distant and arrogant look on her face and the way his world collapsed in that moment.
The four–year anniversary gift he’d prepared for Giselle shattered loudly on the ground. But it wasn’t just the gift that broke. His heart and the love they had shared all these years did too.
“I didn’t know you were such a romantic. You actually held onto your first love for all this time?”
He let out a bitter laugh, feeling as if a bullet had struck his chest.
The chill of the ice jolted Louie back to the present. His skin prickled, and he instinctively pulled away, creating between them.
distance
He calmly took the cup from her. “Don’t bother. Otherwise, I might start hallucinating that the great Ms. Chamberlain cares about me.”
Giselle froze for a second, clearly not expecting the sudden shift. But then she exhaled slowly and looked him in the eye. Slowly, she said, “It’s not a hallucination. I do care about you.”
