Chapter 73
Me Whitman will be undergoing surgery tomorrow. Holded her o paper craries, symbolising my hope that everything goes well I wonder whether she’ll like it. Mom, if she doesn’t like it, can you teach me something else.
Anathen stopped listening to the rest of Xander’s sentence. Her heart squeezed. She felt as though she was being suffocated.
The only reason why Xander suddenly showered her with attention and tried to please Anathea was because he wanted her to teach him how to fold paper cranes so he could gift them to Natalia
Everything he’d done was for Natalie.
Anathea felt a hysterical chuckle bubble within her. It was hilarious how she’d wanted to keep Xander by her side just because he displayed a mochem of love for her. At the same time, she ridiculed herself for being shaken from the decision she thought
she’d never waver from
Thankfully, Hannah’s words woke her from her stupor. She was also relieved that Xander specified his intentions in time. Like a club to her head, it brought her clarity back and banished her hesitations.
Anathea sighed while trying to rein in her emotions. The excitement which had sparkled in her eyes faded away, only to be replaced by a mask of calm.
Xander asked once more, “Mom, do you think Ms. Whinnan will like it?”
“I don’t know,” said Anathea. She continued, “It’s getting late. You should get some rest.”
Then, she left his room.
Xander watched Anathea leave. It looked like she was jealous. Perhaps she would pay more attention to him in the future and make him his favorite dishes. It was a great plan!
Kander happily placed the bottle of cranes into his gift box. He would gift them to Natalie tomorrow. Then, he would fold some even prettier origami for Anathea. She would definitely be overjoyed.
The moon crept its way across the sky.
Perhaps because she’d taken her medicine, Anathea fell asleep shortly after getting into bed. She only woke up at 10:00 am
She was shocked when she checked the time. It was the first time she was waking up so late. Even when Gregory had had his way with her all night, she would still force herself to get up early to prepare for Gregory and Xander’s birthday.
However,
r, it was a weekend, not to mention
on the fact that she no longer cooked for them. Being a little late didn’t matter.
Anathea stretched her neck out. It felt a little strained. Perhaps due to her stressful job and her frequent bouts of sickness, she felt tired easily. She got ready at a relatively slower pace.
After getting changed, Anathea went downstairs, where the helpers had already begun working on the tasks at hand.
“Good morning, Mrs. Sinclair,” Jenny greeted. She placed a plate of food on the table and said, “We’ve prepared a modern–style
breakfast.”
There was only one plate. Gregory hadn’t returned home last night The driver had fetched Xander to visit Natalie at the hospital. They’d left Anathea alone in a huge mansion.
However, she seemed unbothered as she bit into her toast. It was crisp on the outside and buttery on the inside, a complex combination of flavorful layers.
Anathea asked, “Jenny, who made the breakfast?”
As Jenny swept the floors, she replied, “It’s Tom, of course. However, he went home after making breakfast as he was afraid the wound on his face would put you in a bad mood.”
Tom was wounded?

Anathea posed and thought back to when Gregory beat Tom up. cregory worked out frequently. He probably packed a mean. Punch
“The next time Tom comes over, please pass this cintment to himin my behalf.” Anathea placed the ointment on the table.
At the end of the day, Tom had gotten hurt because of her. It would be heartless of her if she didn’t display any concern.
Jenny replied, “Alright. However, Mrs. Sinclair…”
After a moment of hesitation, Jenny continued, “Although I knowhere’s nothing between you and Tom, I do feel that you should keep your distance from him.”
