Chapter 7
Returning to our home, memories flooded back, making Jasper increasingly miserable.
“What are these medications? Didn’t I say Madam shouldn’t take them anymore? Why are they still here?”
The servant was surprised. “These are vitamins Mrs. Thornwood needs after rehabilitation, sir. Didn’t you know?”
Upon hearing this, Jasper frantically searched through everything.
Bedroom, living room, study…
Only did he finally realized she had shown signs of improvement all along!
Vivienne watered the flowers daily, but her wheelchair wheels hadn’t touched soil in ages.
She hadn’t used body lotion for a long time after surgery, but lately it was being used up quickly.
There were countless signs of her gradual recovery, but he had noticed none of them!
He slapped himself hard twice.
Then broke down crying.
During this time, he had been so immersed in the joy of Carson’s return to the Thornwood family that he neglected Vivienne, who needed care and protection the most.
He wasn’t a qualified husband.
He wasn’t even worthy of being a human being!
‘Sir, Mrs. Thornwood kept this potted plant on the balcony and instructed us not to touch it. Now that she’s gone,
what should we do with it?”
‘Bring it closer so I can see.”
After examining it carefully, he suddenly grabbed the servant’s wrist. “When did Madam bring this home?”
onth ago, the night you didn’t come home.”
ely felt a pounding headache.
eat day, he was celebrating with Vanessa and Carson at the Skyline Villa.
And this villa was the one Vivienne had dreamed of keeping for our future baby.

He stared numbly at the distinctive pot base that was exclusive to the Skyline Villa complex, choking up.
So Vivienne had known about Carson all along?
By this time, I had completed my final surgery abroad.
“The recovery has been excellent!”
The doctor and my friend Josie high–fived in celebration. “But there’s one thing you should prepare yourself for.”
“Although your legs have recovered, your uterus was damaged during the delivery procedure. You may never be able to get pregnant again.”
Losing the ability to become a mother was like a bolt from the blue.
But I had already become calm and immune to pain.
In the following days, I visited many places Jasper had once promised to take me.
New Zealand, Paris, the Pyramids…
I discovered that without him, my life could still be wonderfully fulfilling.
It seemed losing him wasn’t such a big deal after all.
