Chapter 9
Hearing this, I pulled out a chair and slowly sat down.
As everyone held their breath, I took out the divorce papers from my bag.
“I can help, but Jasper and I must divorce first!”
With that, all eyes turned to Jasper.
He looked heartbroken, the picture of extreme hurt. “Vivienne, do you really have to be this cruel?”
“I can explain everything! I was set up!”
Jasper waved his hands frantically, his face showing desperation and helplessness. “You’re the only one in my heart. Vanessa was just a mistake. Do I need to cut my heart open for you to see that?”
Looking at his gradually moistening eyes, I merely smiled faintly. “But you killed my baby and left me crippled.
Those are facts!”
“Jasper, I can’t trust you anymore.”
Then I turned to Vanessa. “Besides, Carson… he’s your son. That’s undeniable.”
“I can’t tolerate betrayal, so let’s end this here.”
As soon as I finished speaking, in front of everyone, he knelt before me!
“Please, don’t divorce me. The Thornwood estate will be yours from now on, and the Thornwood Group too.”
But such gestures could no longer move me.
“Do you realize that because of your reckless decision, I can never get pregnant again?”
“Not because of the paralysis, not because of the difficult delivery.”
“But because of her!” I pointed directly at Vanessa, who instinctively stepped back, suddenly drenched in sweat.
Jasper looked completely stunned, totally shocked.
“So, do you think we can ever go back to how things were?”
Jasper was entirely speechless.
I don’t know what he investigated afterward.

Chapter 9
I heard that Jasper expelled Vanessa from the family home, and even Carson was secretly sent abroad.
Vanessa’s fate was miserable.
When she was thrown out, she was covered in blood, mumbling apologies incoherently.
In the following days, Jasper tried to find me several times, but I rejected him each time.
“Vivienne, I’m really trying to make amends!”
One day, Jasper finally caught me outside my company building.
He was overjoyed, his face full of expectation.
“I bought all the units at Skyline Villa that you liked, and the baby stroller you wanted.”
“If you want a child, we can go abroad! Use the best artificial womb! Whatever you want.”
I slowly stopped walking to face his completely unguarded gaze.
‘Do you really have to keep pursuing this? We can never go back to how things were!”
asper’s smile froze on his lips. “Vivienne, you were never this heartless before.”
‘What will it take for you to forgive me?”
Hearing this, looking at his vulnerability, I smiled gently.
Between us, it’s till death do us part.”
After a few days of peace, Mrs. Thornwood actually showed up at my door.
Daughter–in–law…”
quickly interrupted her, not even looking up.
Mrs. Thornwood, your son and I have signed divorce papers. Our families should have no connection now.”
Mrs. Thornwood bit her lip and shakily sat down. “Fine, Ms. Reynolds.”
May I beg you to see my son just once?”
fearing this, my expression remained unchanged. Jasper Thornwood no longer stirred any feelings in my heart.
Didn’t my secretary inform you that I’m extremely busy and have no time?”
After hesitating for a long while, Mrs. Thornwood finally steeled herself: “He has stomach cancer! It’s already
erminal!”

My pen paused mid–stroke.
Mrs. Thornwood’s sobbing continued.
“And just yesterday, for your anniversary, Jasper went to Springvale to get those flowers you love… and had an
accident.“.
“If you don’t go now, it will be too late!”
When I arrived at the hospital, Jasper was barely clinging to life, truly down to his last breath.
As if stubbornly waiting for someone.
“Vivi.”
Everyone’s eyes turned to me standing in the doorway.
I moved closer.
Watching Jasper slowly smile, I instinctively gripped his fingers, which were ice cold.
“Get well soon.”
“You’ll be fine.”
But he just shook his head, gesturing for me to come closer.
Then weakly closed his eyes.
Leaving the hospital, I looked up at the sky–so blue, so clean.
Just like on our wedding day, so pure and pristine.
But sadly, nothing could ever be the same again.
[asper’s feeble voice seemed to still echo in my ears.
He had said he was sorry.
From now on, love and hate would be zeroed out–till death did us part.
