“How old are you that you’re still arguing with a pup?”
Aria was stunned. She knew full well that he wouldn’t believe her, but his blatant favoritism still stung like silver.
She looked at him with a sour expression in her eyes,holding back tears. “I didn’t push him at all!”
Kane laughed, the sound harsh and disbelieving. “Are you saying a pup of a few years old tripped and framed you?”
Aria’s heart trembled.
Why bother explaining when she knew he wouldn’t believe her…
She lowered her eyes, trying to regain her composure. “Meeting you guys is just my bad luck, okay?”
She turned around to leave.
“Stop.”
Aria hesitated for a moment, her wolf automatically responding to the Alpha command, then forced herself to keep walking.
“Jasper is just a pup after all, why bother arguing with him,” Kane’s voice softened slightly, though his Alpha authority remained. “Apologize to Jasper.”
“Kane, maybe we should just forget about it…” Seraphina spoke up for her, playing the magnanimous role perfectly.
His amber eyes were cold as winter. “If you make a mistake, you admit it and apologize.”
Aria clenched her fingers, her nails almost sinking into her palm, but she seemed to have forgotten the pain as her wolf howled silently.
She turned slowly, looking directly at Kane. “The Moonrise Apartments are full of surveillance cameras. Can’t you go check the surveillance before trying to be a hero?”
“If I did something wrong in the surveillance, I can apologize, but if it’s not my fault, don’t expect me to apologize!”
Aria didn’t look at him again. She turned around and left.
Kane’s chest suddenly tightened,his face darkened slightly.
Seraphina was thrown into a panic by the word “surveillance“. She was really afraid that Kane would check the surveillance footage.
She grabbed Kane with desperate strength. “Kane, let it go. Jasper wasn’t hurt, and I believe Dr. Ashworth didn’t do it on purpose.”
She absolutely couldn’t let Kane see the surveillance footage. She quickly changed the subject, her voice carrying subtle magical influence. “Kane, Jasper is about to be late, let’s go first.”

Kane pulled his arm out, his wolf restless and agitated. “I have informed the principal. You take Jasper over there, she will arrange everything. I have a meeting.”
He went straight back to the car. Seraphina tightened her grip as she watched Kane drive away. In her distraction, she forgot she was still holding Jasper’s hand.
“Mom, I’m in pain.”
Jasper was being pinched by her uncontrolled strength.
Seraphina came to her senses, slowly crouched down and grabbed his shoulders.
“Jasper, you did very well this time, excellent.”
