Chapter 114
Aria and Kane entered their apartment one after the other. She ignored the man behind her, changed her shoes and straight for the bedroom.
She went to the wardrobe to gather clean clothes and moved toward the guest room.
Kane poured himself water in the kitchen, observed her actions, and said nothing.
The sound of the guest room door locking followed.
Kane gripped his glass tightly, his expression unreadable as his wolf paced restlessly.
When had she started guarding herself against him so deliberately?
At that moment, his phone rang. It was Marcus calling.
Aria took half a day off and didn’t arrive at the hospital until the afternoon.
As soon as she entered the lobby, a middle–aged woman suddenly rushed toward her and slapped her without warning.
Before Aria could react, the woman grabbed her collar and shouted loudly, “You shameless home–wrecker! How dare you seduce my mate!”
“Ma’am, you’re mistaken.” Aria pushed her away, her wolf bristling at the unprovoked attack. “I’ve never met your mate. Who told you to slander me like this?”
The middle–aged woman produced a photo of a man, shoving it practically in Aria’s face. “Lucas Thorne is my husband! You work in the same hospital–dare to say you don’t know him?”
Aria was stunned, even more puzzled. “Dr. Thorne?“/
“You witch! No wonder my husband is always running around–turns out he’s been keeping you, you shameless bitch!” The woman raised her hand to strike again, but security guards arrived just in time to restrain her.
“Honey!”
At that time, Lucas ran straight to the middle–aged woman’s side, attempting to calm the situation. The woman grabbed his ear with her hand. “What’s this? Are you still trying to protect this bitch?”
“No, no! How could I possibly protect her!” Lucas embraced his mate while pointing accusingly at Aria. “It was all her seducing me! If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have even glanced in her direction!”
