Chapter 124
Aria arrived at Marcus’s office, knocked on the door, and entered only after receiving pernitzaion.
Marcus set down his files. “Aria, the corruption report about Dr. Thorne was that your doing?”
During the investigation meeting about Lucas, he had already suspected what was happening
Aria didn’t deny it. “It was me.”
“You’re being reckless,” Marcus said seriously. “Dr. Thorne’s brother in law is the director of the tax bureau. If he finds out about this, knowing his temperament, he definitely won’t let this go easily.”
Aria understood that Marcus was looking out for her best interests. In the real world, abilities was just hurdles to overcome but what mattered more were pack connections and political influence.
Many capable individuals worked in the hospital, and there were quite a few doctors as skilled as Lucas. If it weren’t for his pack connections, he wouldn’t have been able to maintain his position as department head.
Marcus was aware of all this, including Lucas’s corrupt practices.
If he hadn’t known that someone powerful would protect Lucas, how could he, as director, have turned a blind eye to it?
“I only have another month and a half left. By the time I leave Boston, what can he do to me?”
Marcus looked at her with concern. “There’s still a month and a half remaining!”
Aria stepped forward to pour coffee for him, her movements graceful despite the tension. “Don’t worry, Director Reed. I have my own ways of handling this.”
After Aria left the office, Marcus watched her departing figure thoughtfully.
He was approaching retirement age and really hoped Aria could accomplish the things he couldn’t achieve when he was
younger.
Aria returned to her office and immediately saw Kane sitting at her desk, casually flipping through files.
In his hands were two folders–and among them was her transfer application!
