He turned the page of his magazine with deliberate slowness. “It depends.“:
Aria sighed internally. Obviously, he wasn’t planning to attend.
She hadn’t held much hope to begin with anyway.
She was about to leave when Kane called out to her.
She stopped and asked, “Is there something else?”
Kane moved the breakfast closer to her side of the table. “Eat before you leave.”
He put away the magazine and headed toward his study.
Aria glanced at the breakfast on the table, then watched Kane’s retreating figure with a mixture of surprise and confusion.
She couldn’t understand what Kane meant by this gesture.
She didn’t touch the breakfast Kane had prepared. She simply turned and left the apartment.
When Kane emerged from his study, his gaze fell on the untouched breakfast that had already grown cold, and his expression darkened with displeasure.
She really was a woman who didn’t know how to appreciate kindness!
He turned around and dumped the breakfast into the trash with more force than necessary.

Aria spent the entire morning in the operating room and didn’t
emerge
until noon.
The patient’s family had been waiting outside the operating room for hours. When they saw her exit, they immediately gathered around her.
Aria removed her surgical mask and reported with satisfaction, “The surgery was completely successful.”
The worried faces of the patient’s family finally brightened with relief upon hearing this news, and they expressed their gratitude repeatedly.
After Aria had briefed the family on post–operative care, she returned to her office, only to coincidentally encounter Selena and Seraphina in front of the nurses‘ station.
“Who is this person?” Selena looked Aria up and down, her eyes full of obvious disdain. “Oh, it’s Aria the pathetic follower.”
Seraphina heard Selena belittling Aria in front of others and felt secretly delighted.
