Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Kane was forced into this mating bond with Aria–Victoria had witnessed it all. Back then Elder Ravencrest had been too powerful, and as a daughter–in–law, she couldn’t do anything about it. She could only watch from the sidelines.
After all these years, she thought he would agree readily to what she was suggesting, given his apparent indifference toward
his current mate. Could she not see whether her own son cared about Aria or not?
But Kane’s pen stopped moving, and there was a hint of Alpha irritation in his amber eyes. “You don’t need to worry about my mating bond.”
Victoria froze, her wolf recoiling from his unexpected protectiveness. She hadn’t expected him to react like that–not when she was so certain he felt nothing for Aria.
“You think I want to interfere!” Victoria hit the desk. “Kane, once this scandal spreads, Aria will know too. Do you think she won’t mind that her mate is publicly linked to another female and her pup?”
Kane fell silent for a moment. “She wouldn’t care.”
His voice carried less conviction than usual.
Watching her son’s stubborn denial, Victoria became so frustrated she didn’t know what to do. “I can’t be bothered to deal
with your mess anymore. Sort it out yourself!”
After Victoria left, Kane picked up his phone and scrolled through TikTok, his eyes growing cold as he saw the trending discussions about his supposed “secret mate and heir.”
He made a phone call and instructed the public relations department to remove the trending topic immediately.
Meanwhile, Aria had two surgeries at the hospital and didn’t have time to look at her phone at all, her focus entirely
consumed by her healing work.
When she came out of the operating room again, it was already late afternoon.
She changed out of her surgical scrubs, rubbed her stiff neck, and returned to her office. Looking up, she was surprised to see Kane’s tall figure standing at her door.
Seeing the handsome face of the Alpha, Aria’s steps hesitated slightly.
How did Kane end up here?
Most likely he had come to find Seraphina, as usual.
She gathered her courage and walked over, expecting him to act as usual–pretending not to know her and walking away as soon as she approached.
But the he stood in front of her office door, not moving.
