Chapter 32
Not to mention that with Kane’s personality, it was impossible for outsiders to find any fault in his behavior as a mate.
So the secrecy of their bond was also for his own convenience and reputation.
Even if he were to bond with Seraphina in the future and give Jasper a proper pack name, it would be legitimate. Seraphina would never be seen as interfering with an existing bond.
Aria thought this through and felt another wave of bitterness rise in her throat.
After a brief silence, Kane picked up a napkin to wipe the corners of his mouth and said with calculated casualness, “There is a clinical trial research conference on robotic surgery next week. You take Seraphina with you.”
Aria was stunned, nearly choking on her orange juice.
She looked at him incredulously. “I take her?”
The conference on clinical trials of robotic surgery was the country’s premier large–scale medical gathering, attended by chief physicians from various specialties and respected healers from wolf packs across the nation.
Seraphina was director in name only, having been elevated to her position through Kane’s influence rather than merit. So to be honest, she was been parachuted into Silverstone Medical Center without earning her place.
Kane knew perfectly well what kind of prestigious occasion this was, yet he actually suggested that she bring Seraphina along.
Did he really want to advance Seraphina’s career that aggressively?
He lifted his eyelids and gazed at her with those penetrating amber eyes. “What, unwilling?”
“Why don’t you find someone else to escort her?” She didn’t say no outright, but her reluctance was clear.
Kane’s eyes darkened. “I know you have issues with her, but this time, it’s not up for discussion.”
“Kane, you want to promote her, don’t you?” Aria took a deep breath and finally asked the question directly.
He was silent for a moment before replying with indifferent honesty. “And if I am?”
And if I am?
As if it were just that simple, as if her feelings about being used to advance his former lover’s career meant nothing.
But what could she do about it? She was just his unwanted mate.
Looking at Aria’s pale face, Kane pressed his lips into a thin line, his tone softening slightly.
“Relax. She won’t threaten your position.”

His Rejected Luna Queen: From Pack Doctor to Moon Goddess
Chapter 32
He meant her standing as the lead surgeon, didn’t he?
Aria suddenly smiled, setting down her fork calmly. “Don’t worry, I won’t keep her waiting too long.”
She’d be transferring out soon anyway. She didn’t even want the title of “Luna” anymore.
Status? Reputation? None of it mattered to her now.
She pushed back her chair and walked away.
Kane watched her go, his fingers drumming against the table, his expression dark and stormy.
She’d been acting different lately–too deliberate, too controlled.
But thinking that she still needed him for her brother’s legal troubles, he dismissed the nagging thought that had been growing
in his mind.
So there was no need to dwell on it further.
His wolf, however, remained little restless and unsettled.
