Kane didn’t return to Moonrise Apartments for the next two days.
His absence was actually a relief to Aria now.
When Margaret was tidying up the wardrobe, she noticed that many of Aria’s clothes were missing. As Aria was preparing to lease for her temporary work assignment, Margaret asked with concern. “Lima Arin, it seems like a lot of your clothes bate disappeared. They weren’t lost, were they?”
Margaret had already observed that many of Aria’s personal belongings had gradually vanished from the apartment.
Now that even clothing was significantly reduced, it was natural to be suspicious.
Aria simply smiled and replied calmly, “Old clothes that didn’t fit properly–I donated them.”
“Well, it’s almost time for the seasonal wardrobe change anyway. Lana Aria, you should ask Alpha Ravencrest to buy you some new clothes.” Margaret said, her face lighting up with genuine affection
Aria smiled faintly without responding to the suggestion.
At that moment, her phone rang
It was Gabriel calling
Aria answered the phone, and before she could even speak, Gabriel’s angry voice exploded through the “Aria, what are you doing! Why did Kane withdraw Charlie’s defense attorney? Are you willing to just let Charlie go to prison!”
Aria was suddenly struck by the realization, remembering Kane’s parting words about being “on her own” flashing through her mind. She hit her p in frustration.
Gabriel continued his tirade. “I don’t care what disagreements Kane has with anyone else, but since you are his mate, you have an obligation to take care of family matters. Don’t be ungrateful for the position you’ve been given
Gabriel hung up the phone without giving Aria much opportunity to respond or explain,
