Chapter 5

Hearing this, the team, delighted, instantly set to work. 1

Vincent nodded immediately.

Seeing him reach for my hair again, I ducked my head and sank my teeth into his arm.

Guests began to arrive, and upon seeing me on the floor, my clothes disheveled, they rushed to help me to my feet.

I had been preparing for so long, waiting for this very moment. I was going to ensure he was ruined, utterly and forever.

I clutched the brooch on my chest, blocking Vincent’s hand.

“Pull out all the stops. As long as Mr. Kane is satisfied, he will of course pay you double your fee.”

“Take it off and give it to Sophia! You’re a grown woman, so why are you still so vain!”

“Sophia, you don’t need to feel insecure. In my eyes, you are the most beautiful angel. Today, you will be the most beautiful bride.”

I might not care about other things, but this brooch was extraordinarily meaningful. If that bitch ever wore it, I’d be disgusted just looking at it from then on, and Alessandro would be upset, too.

Only then did his expression soften.

“You should have just given this to Sophia from the start,” he sneered. “Did you have to make everything so ugly? Some bitches are just asking for it.”

As I put on my wedding dress and looked at the radiant woman in the mirror, it dawned on me just how stunning I could be. And to think I was the one who had dragged myself into this quagmire.

“Isabella, it’s bad luck for two brides to ride in the same car. You go take the car behind

us.”

“And if you dare make her look ugly on purpose because you think Sophia didn’t give you a big enough tip, you won’t see a dime from me today. Today, Sophia must be the most dazzling bride!”

I let out a soft laugh, turned, and got into the car behind them.

This brooch was a token of love from Alessandro, delivered overnight by helicopter. It was the symbol of the matriarchs of the Salvatore family.

“Get over here and do Miss Sophia’s makeup and styling, now!”

“Isabella Romano, you’re married to me now, so you’ll do as I say! Today, I’ll teach you the rules of the Kane family!”

Hearing this, Vincent immediately pulled Sophia into his arms to comfort her.

As he spoke, he planted a foot on my back, pinning my head down as he tried to pull off

the brooch.

In the struggle, he grabbed a fistful of my hair, yanking it viciously. A sharp, searing pain shot through my scalp as he ripped out a chunk of my hair, tossing it to the ground in

disgust.

“Isabella Romano! Are you determined to upstage Sophia today? What’s with the brooch?

Is it meant to show that you’re more noble than her, that you’re the real wife?”

“You’re using A-list Hollywood makeup artists and wearing such an expensive gown… I feel so plain in comparison. I’m too ashamed to even stand next to you.”

I calmly walked over and instructed the wedding coordinator to change the sign at once,

replacing the bride’s name with Sophia Miller.

Sophia’s eyes reddened as well. “Isabella, I know my position is humble, but you don’t have to show off like this. You’re just making things difficult for Vincent. People will only

gossip about him, saying he looks down on me because he didn’t buy me such an

expensive brooch.”

“Sophia, I knew it. You are the most beautiful girl, an angel who’s fallen to earth.”

This was a top-tier team I had brought in from Hollywood. Their appearance fee was fifty thousand dollars each; double that would be one hundred thousand. For five people, that

was half a million dollars-which, for him, was probably nothing.

The makeup artists exchanged uneasy glances, then turned to look at me.

Tears streamed down the beauty’s face, and Vincent’s heart ached for her. He immediately grabbed me and forcefully tried to rip the brooch off.

Just as he was about to speak, his eyes lifted and landed on the ‘Silver Wolf and Rose’

brooch on my chest.

Sophia followed him in, a flicker of jealousy and resentment in her eyes as she said

haltingly,

“That’s right. As long as I’m satisfied with the result and Sophia becomes the most beautiful bride, I’ll pay you double.”

The next day, I woke up early and surrendered myself to the makeup artists.

The moment he saw me, he immediately snapped,

“Let’s go, my most beautiful bride.”

Sure enough, under the magic of money and dressed in a custom-made gown worth a million dollars, Sophia was completely transformed. Looking like a true socialite, she gazed at Vincent, both shy and triumphant.

“Isabella, you look breathtaking.”

I shook my head and held him back.

The agony was so intense I could only clutch my chest, curling into a ball on the floor.

I pushed against Vincent with all my might, refusing to let him succeed.

And with that, he slammed the window shut.

His fury instantly returned.

When I reached the wedding car at the church, Vincent was already in the back seat, with his arm around Sophia. He rolled down the window, a look of indifference on his face, and

said,

on my chest.

I let out a soft laugh and spoke,

The two of them walked out gracefully, and Vincent completely forgot that I was the one he was meant to marry today-his actual bride.

The moment Vincent pushed the door open, his eyes flashed with stunned admiration,

and he blurted out.

When we arrived at the church entrance, Vincent was already there, standing on the steps with Sophia on his arm, greeting the guests.

Vincent roughly yanked the brooch from my dress and walked over to Sophia.

As he spoke, he gently pinned the brooch to Sophia’s collar.

With that, he roared at my makeup artists,

With that, he took Sophia’s arm, a smile playing at the corners of his eyes as he said,

He shot me another glance, his voice dripping with thinly veiled malice.

“Isabella, I knew you were going to make a scene today! Why isn’t Sophia’s name on the welcome sign? Do you even want to get married today or not?”

As I spoke, I shot a sharp look at Vincent.

Vincent’s eyes were glued to her as he grabbed her hand.

Seeing that I dared to resist, Vincent grabbed my wedding dress and violently threw me

to the floor.

Papa and his bodyguards emerged from the car behind us. The moment he saw my tangled hair and the red, swollen mark on my cheek, he moved to confront Vincent.
