Chapter 147
Chapter 147
After a long pause, Anthony’s subordinate dared to speak “Mr. Anthony Russell, are you alright
“Dol look alright? Anthony glared starkly at him. “Those idiots, Nick and David, I always told them to think before acting
so no one could catch them. Yet Theodore uncovered every detail of their deeds! Utterly stupid”
The subordinate asked, “Will they implicate you?”
ngand
Anthony narrowed his eyes. “They’ve worked for me the past two years their downfall will hurt my reputation at the company Though I didn’t interfere in their dirty work, I didn’t participate. Even if they try to incriminate use to the pollen, they have no proof”
The subordinate said, “Then let them face the consequences–you needn’t Intervene.”
Anthony asked in deep thought, “How did David and Nick react when dragged out of the company?”
The subordinate recalled, “David was sobbing, and Nick cursed all the way because his pants fell down,
This finally drew a smile from Anthony. “Is that sol”
At 9:30 PM two days later, Theodore finished work and took the elevator to the underground garage. Ninety percent of the cars were gone the remaining ones meant their owners were still working overtime.
As he passed a black van, he noticed its license plate was covered with a cloth, which seemed odd.
Inside the van, the driver stared at Theodore and told the man in the passenger seat, “Theodore seems to have noticed us.”
The man in the passenger seat, eyes filled with hatred, said impatiently, “it’s time.”
He rolled down the window and aimed a cold gun at Theodore’s heart. The next second, a gunshot rang out in the garage.
Eliana was bored that night and decided to cook crab for Theodore’s midnight snack. While handling the live crab in the second floor kitchen, she accidentally got pinched by its waving claw.
Looking at the bleeding wound, she placed the crab in the sink and rinsed her thumb. Just then, her phone in her apron pocket rang
She turned off the faucet and dried her hands. Seeing it was Samuel, she was confused–he hadn’t contacted her since Theodore’s eyes recovered.
She answered, and Samuel asked nervously, “Mrs. Russell, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” Eliana said curiously. “Dr. Wilson, why do you ask?”
Samuel sighed in relief, “Good. Can you come to my place now?”
Eliana grew more puzzled. “What’s the matter?”
it concerns Mr. Russell–you’ll see when ; you get here.” Amid Eliana’s sudden tense breathing. Samuel added, “Listen, Mrs. Russell–if anyone asks where you’re going, make up an excuse”
Though unsure of Samuel’s intent, she doubted he was pranking her. “Okay,” she replied
As she hurried to change. Anthony’s gentle voice came from behind. “Eliana, going out?”
Startled, she recalled Samuel’s words and turned. “Yes, I was about to cook crab but realized I forgot garlic, so I’m buying some.”

Chapter 147
Anthony checked his watch. It’s 10 PM–supermarkets are probably closed.”
Dana forced a smile. “There must be some supe
Anthony nodded. “It’s unsafe for a woman to go out at night. Want me to send someone with you?”
“Thank you, but no” She shook her head. “Aren’t you afraid Alice will find out?”
Anthony’s face showed mixed emotions. “Eliana, I believe you didn’t mean to cause Alice to fall off the cliff.”
“Thank you for trusting me, Mr. Anthony Russell” His words still fell odd.
No matter the truth, Anthony had lost a child. His casual chat with Eliana seemed strange.
When the doorbell rang, Samuel opened the door immediately. Soring Eliana, he ushered her in
It was Eliana’s first visit to Samuel’s apartment. After her curiosity, she asked, “Dr. Wilson, where’s Mr. Russell?”
Samuel closed the door. “Follow me.”
She followed him into a bedroom and saw Theodore leaning against the headboard. His upper body was bare, his chest wrapped in bandages, and he was receiving a blood transfusion, face pale.
Eliana rushed forward in surprise. “Mr. Russell, what happened?”
Theodore opened his eyes at her voice, but his pupils couldn’t focus due to blood loss
Samuel answered for him. “Mr. Russell was shot in the company’s underground garage.”
Eliana looked at his chest, seeing faint blood seeping through the bandages.
Theodore regained focus. “Don’t worry–Samuel removed the bullet.”
His comfort almost made Eliana burst into tears. “Why didn’t you go to the hospital? Even with Dr. Wilson’s skills, his home lacks hospital equipment.”
Theodore knew this. Though Samuel was a genius doctor, his home lacked professional tools, and treatment wouldn’t be optimal. But he couldn’t go to the hospital
“I can’t go to the hospital,” he said.
She asked, “Why?”
Theodore replied, “Some in the company want me out to shake employee loyalty.”
If they knew he was shot, rumors would spread. Theodore withdrew for two years due to blindness, and some employees had already lost confidence. That was why his accident this time must stay secret.
“But
