The next afternoon, with the hospital understaffed, Eliana had to collect everyone’s medications herself from the pharmacy. As she stood in line. someone tapped her shoulder lightly. “Eliana? What a coincidence.”
She turned to see Anthony and blinked in surprise. “Why are you here?”
“Alice wasn’t feeling well,” he explained. “I brought her for a gynecological checkup. The doctor prescribed some medicine, so I’m picking it up.
Remembering Alice’s miscarriage after the fall and her body likely still recovering, Eliana nodded in understanding,
Seizing the chance to chat, Anthony asked, “And you? Visiting someone, or are you unwell?”
“Visiting,” Eliana replied curtly.
After a while, Eliana collected over a dozen bulging pharmacy bags. Anthony frowned, “That
a lot. Let me help.”
“No need.” Eliana gave him a polite nod before struggling toward the exit. Dozens of the Therapy Center’s people were hospitalized. The medications were extensive.
Just then, a burly man jostled her. Several boxes tumbled from the overstuffed bags.
“Look, they’re everywhere.” Anthony crouched to gather the scattered boxes but kept them instead of returning them. “Let me carry these for you.”
Eliana noticed he no longer stood in line and asked, “What about Alice? Aren’t you here for her medicine?”
Anthony blinked. “She’s still consulting with the doctor. I’ll come back later.”
When Anthony entered the ward carrying two bags, he immediately recognized Isaac. “Isn’t this your brother?”
Eliana set down the bags and replied, “Yeah.”
“What happened to him?”
“He was burned in a fire.”
Seeing her with her head bowed, looking utterly drained, Anthony couldn’t help but ask, “How did this happen?”
He thought, ‘Alice and Hannah caused that accident. Was Isaac caught in it?‘
“I wish I knew,” Eliana sighed before turning to Bernice. “Bernie, I can take over here. You go help others.”
“Alright.” Bernice stood to leave.
Anthony’s gaze shifted to her. “This is…”
Eliana introduced. “She’s the director of the Therapy Center.”
Anthony extended his hand, his demeanor respectful. “A pleasure to meet you. I’m Anthony Russell, Theodore’s younger brother.”
Bernice, disarmed by his polite smile and gentle manner, found herself warming to him.
Then, she went out of the ward and paused at the doorway. She murmured to Eliana, “Anthony seems far more considerate than Theodore.”
Eliana instinctively explained, “Bernie, Theodore is away on a business trip. He would’ve come if he could.”

Bernice sighed. “A man of his Influence could at least send someone in his place. Ellie, I just worry he doesn’t prioritize you.“
Eliana knew Bernice had always been skeptical of Theodore, but this time, she couldn’t muster a rebuttal.
When Eliana entered the ward, Anthony asked earnestly, “Is there anything else I can do?”
“You’ve already helped enough.” She glanced at the medicine bags in the corner.
Recognizing her unspoken dismissal, Anthony seized the moment. “Does Theodore know about this?”
Eliana shook her head.
Anthony thought with a faint smile, ‘So they’re fighting. That explains why Theodore’s in the dark. But this works in my favor.”
On the way back, Alice leaned in close and blew a breath against Anthony’s ear. “Where’s my money?”
Anthony tossed her a card without looking, “150 thousand dollars. Don’t blow it all at once.”
Seeing how generous he was, Alice guessed the outcome must’ve pleased him. “We should work together again sometime.”
Anthony asked, “When you and Hannah planned the fire, did you know Eliana’s brother was at the Therapy Center?”
Alice thought, ‘Eliana’s brother? That idiot who once visited Russell Manor?‘
She scoffed, “How would I know? Hannah provided information, and I handled manpower. Take it up with her.”
Watching Anthony’s expression darken, she couldn’t resist needling him. “Look at you, getting sentimental. Since when do you care? You sacrificed our child without blinking. But Eliana’s family is off–limits?”
“Shut your mouth.” Anthony glared at her.
Alice smirked, undeterred. “Just a friendly warning, my sugar daddy. Be careful. She’ll make you weak.”
In Gerwulf, during a meeting with branch partners, Penelope entered with a cup of coffee and a creamer. “Your coffee, Mr. Russell.”
Her slit miniskirt today had even distracted executives sneaking glances. She thought, ‘Why won’t Mr. Russell look at me? Am I not sexy enough?‘
Setting the cup down, she bent deliberately at his diagonal. Cleavage was on full display. She thought, ‘Now he’ll notice.‘
Theodore did. He paused mid–conversation. “Penelope.”
Penelope beamed, “Yes, Mr. Russell?”
Theodore said coldly, “Leave after serving.”
He thought, ‘Does she think this is a photo shoot?‘
Undeterred, Penelope gestured to the creamer. “Milk, sir?”
“I’m not a fan of milk,” Theodore said flatly.
Penelope thought he was mocking her plump breasts. She smiled, “Then some sugar.”
“Unnecessary. I may not drink it.” Theodore’s voice was cold.

Fuming, Penelope stormed out.
A balding middle–aged man, Dylan Baker, paced anxiously outside the conference room. The moment Penelope emerged, he grabbed her hands. SA Did Mr. Russell notice you?“,
Penelope pouted, “Mr. Baker, that man is like a block of wood. I dressed to kill today, and he didn’t even blink.”
Dylan patted her hand consolingly. “Even if he’s wood, he’s the most expensive kind. Sweetheart, you know I’ve always treated you well, right? You’ve got to help me out here.”
Penelope huffed, “Haven’t I been helping? Short of stripping naked in his bed, I’ve tried everything. He’s just not interested in me.”
Dylan’s voice turned wheedling. “Try again. You know I lowballed those suppliers. If Mr. Russell goes back and axes me as branch head, I’m finished. You’re my only shot at winning him over.”
