Chapter 209
Penelope hesitated. “But Mr. Russell looks so untouchable. I’m not sure I can pull this off.”
Dylan said, “Here’s the plan. Listen, I’ll set up a drinking session tonight. Once he’s drunk, you make your move.”
“But he seems really devoted to his wife.” That phone call still haunted Penelope.
Dylan scoffed, “What man doesn’t stray when drunk? If he regrets it tomorrow, just say he forced you.”
Late that night, Dylan hauled a thoroughly wasted Theodore into his hotel suite. Winking at Penelope, he whispered, “Your turn, sweetheart. Take good
care of him.”
Penelope’s eyes locked onto the breathtaking man on the bed. “Got it.”
As Dylan left, his hand grazed her backside.
Penelope stiffened as she turned away, hiding her disgust. Now that Theodore was within reach, this greasy old man meant nothing.
She thought, ‘If everything goes well, I’ll land a promotion as Theodore’s personal secretary at headquarters.’
With this in mind, she reached to unbutton his shirt. Theodore frowned, his words slurred, “Shower…”
“Want me to join you? You’re so naughty.” Heart racing, Penelope scurried to run the bath.
Meanwhile, Theodore fumbled for his phone in the coat draped nearby. Drunk fingers scrolled to the top contact and hit call. He thought, ‘Four days of silence. How could she be so cruel?‘
When the line connected, liquor–loosened words tumbled out. “What’re you doing, Eliana?”
In the hospital, just as Eliana was about to sleep, Theodore’s call stirred mixed emotions.
When she remained silent too long, his voice turned petulant. “Say Something. What are you doing?”
Eliana’s gaze flicked to Isaac. She nearly mentioned caring for him until Theodore slurred. “So many days have passed. You didn’t even send me a single message. Don’t you know how much I’ve missed-“A hiccup interrupted him.
Eliana frowned, “You’re drunk?”
–“A little,” he chuckled, though his voice dripped with intoxication.
Just then, a woman’s saccharine voice sounded. “Mr. Russell, your bath is ready.”
Eliana recognized it immediately. It was the woman from that night.
A bitter, mocking laugh escaped her lips. She thought, ‘Is this a way to show off? Showing me he’s got endless replacements? And I almost confided in him. Humph, what a joke.‘
In Gerwulf, Theodore stared at the disconnected call, drunken disbelief widening his eyes. He thought, ‘She’s angrier than when I left Covenhill.‘
Just then, Penelope reached out to touch him. “Let me help you into the bath, Mr. Russell.”

Chapter 209
Theodore snapped back to reality, suddenly aware that someone else was still in the suite. “Get Out.” His voice was cold.
Undeterred, Penelope smiled, “Don’t be like that. I’ll make you happy.”
In the next instant, Theodore seized her throat and flung her off the bed.
“Ah!” She crashed to the floor. When she looked up, his icy gaze made her heart skip a beat.
“Who let you in?” Theodore asked.
Driven by sheer panic, Penelope quickly spilled the truth. “M–Mr. Baker told me to.”
“Dylan Baker?” Theodore yanked his tie loose, smiling like a blade, “Perfect. Tell him to pack his desk.”
