Chapter 216
Meanwhile, Isaac leaned in, eager to join in. He asked, “Ellie, what are you guys whispering about?”
“Nothing.” Eliana replied. She couldn’t exactly admit that Theodore was flirting with her.
Isaac piped up again. “So, can Theodore really stay here tonight or not?”
“He…” Eliana was about to refuse when Theodore leaned in close and whispered in her ear, “One more ‘no‘, and I’ll buy this entire hospital.”
Theodore proved one thing–a rogue wasn’t scary–but a rogue with deep pockets? Now that was terrifying,
“Fine, let him be,” Eliana sighed.
“That means he can stay.” If not for his injuries, Isaac would have jumped for joy.
Theodore turned to Anthony, his voice cold and deliberate. “Eliana and I will take care of Isaac.”
In other words, Anthony could get lost.
Ignoring his words, Anthony instead turned to cast a gentle gaze at Eliana.
Eliana thought to herself, ‘Anthony has been helping me these days. If I asked him to leave now, wouldn’t that be ungrateful?‘
Just then, a gentle voice came from the doorway. Bernice said softly, “Anthony, here to see Isaac again?”
They all turned toward the voice and saw Bernice at the doorway.
Anthony’s face lit up with a smile as he greeted naturally. “Ms. Halverson.”
Despite Theodore’s presence, Bernice deliberately ignored him and turned to Anthony. “You’ve worked so hard these past few days–running around for us and even finding such a great doctor.”
Anthony replied, “It’s the least I can do. You’re Eliana’s family, which makes you family to me as well.”
Bernice couldn’t help but smile.
Theodore knew all too well–had he been the one saying those words, Bernice would have just scoffed or snorted in disdain. She had never held him in any regard, not once.
Even so, Theodore said hesitantly, “Ms. Halverson, these past few days, I’ve been-”
Bernice cut him off, her face expressionless. “I know you were on a business trip. Busy, huh? Too busy to even make a single phone call.”
Theodore thought to himself, ‘I did call, but her phone was always powered off.‘
But it was no use explaining now. Theodore cut straight to the point. “I’m back. From now on, I’ll be taking charge of everything here.”
“But I can see Anthony has everything well in hand, Bernice said pointedly, making it clear she wanted nothing to do with Theodore’s goodwill.
Theodore stopped holding back. “Let him make his arrangements, and I’ll make mine. When the time comes, everyone can choose for themselves, right?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Isaac spoke up, “Theodore, I’m your first supporter.”
Bernice’s expression stiffened–she hadn’t expected a betrayer to emerge this soon.
With Bernice present, it became even harder to dismiss Anthony. Listening to their warm and harmonious banter, anyone would have mistaken Anthony

for Bernice’s son–in–law instead.
A cold smirk played on Theodore’s lips when it suddenly struck him why wasn’t fie leveraging his authority as the company’s CEO?
Seeing Theodore suddenly walk out, Anthony assumed he couldn’t take the pressure and was leaving. Just as he was feeling smug, his phone rang
Anthony glanced at his phone and saw it was his assistant calling. He had no choice but to say, “Ellie, Ms. Halverson, excuse me. I need to take this call
first.”
A moment later, Anthony put down his phone, turned to the others with a strained smile, and said, “Sorry, urgent business just came up at work. I’ll visit Isaac next time.”
With his mouth full of apples, Isaac mumbled, “Mm–hmm, go ahead. I’ve got Theodore here with me.”
Seething inwardly, Anthony grabbed his car keys and strode out–only to run into Theodore in the hallway, wearing a sardonic smirk.
Seeing Theodore clutching his phone, Anthony understood everything.
Anthony walked over and said, “Theodore, pulling rank on me with company business? That’s dirty.”
Theodore smirked. “What are you waiting for? Get going.”
Once Anthony was out of sight, Theodore turned around smugly–only to meet Eliana’s clear, piercing gaze head–on.
His heart sank as he asked, “What are you doing out here?”
“I just came out to see our guest off,” Eliana replied, her tone cool and composed.
Naturally, the “guest” here referred to Anthony.
Eliana shot him a look. “I accidentally overheard your chat. Theodore, could you be any more childish?” With that, she turned to head back to the ward.
Theodore strode forward, took her hand, and pulled her into a secluded corner where it was just the two of them. He demanded, “He’s been so good to you. Do you even know why?”
Eliana met his gaze calmly and replied, “Why do you think?”
Theodore said bluntly, “He’s using you to undermine me, and he’ll stop at nothing to achieve his goal.”
“Like what?” Eliana asked.
“At Mr. Turner’s birthday party, Alice confessed to me in person that Anthony ordered her to seduce me. He’s been trying to sabotage our marriage all along.”
Eliana said calmly, “I know.”
“You knew about this? Hold on, how did you know?”
Faced with Theodore’s questioning, Eliana replied calmly, “He confessed to me.”
‘I can’t believe it–Anthony actually confessed to her?‘ thought Theodore.
Surprise flickered in Theodore’s eyes as he studied her intently. “So you’ve forgiven him?”
“Of course not,” Eliana replied calmly. “But it takes two to tango. He schemed against you, but haven’t you done the same to him?”
Theodore’s heart sank, Anthony had chosen this moment–white he and Eliana were at odds–to confess his misdeeds, clearly aimi maximum forgiveness. But there was no way he’d let Anthony succeed.

The next moment, he grabbed her hand and pressed it to his chest. In a low, intense voice, he said, “Do you even realize? This great wsund is
he ordered someone to shoot me.”
At these words, Eliana’s eyes widened in shock, her gaze instinctively darting to his chest.
After a long pause, she finally managed to speak, “Do you have proof?”
Theodore replied, “The witness is dead.”
He never wanted to pull her into this power struggle, but Anthony’s sinister intentions toward her were now crystal clear. If he didn’t speak up now and she ended up completely taken in by him, it would be too late.
At 11 PM, at Russell Manor, Alice was sitting at her vanity, carefully applying her nightly skincare, when the bedroom door suddenly burst open. Anthony stormed in and slammed it shut with a forceful bang.
While meticulously applying her skincare, Alice eyed him through the mirror and asked, “Why the sour face? Has Eliana completely forgotten you now that Theodore is back?”
Anthony merely rubbed his temples, offering no reply.
Alice sneered, “See? You’ll always be second to Theodore in charm. Without playing dirty, she’ll never be yours.”
Anthony saw through her little scheme to manipulate him into ruining Eliana’s reputation. His voice turned icy as he retorted, “Alice, those old tricks? I’ve long outgrown them. Do you really think I’d fall for that? What I want is her heart.”
Alice smirked, “If you want her heart, first you have to drive a wedge between her and Theodore.”
Anthony narrowed his eyes. “There’s already trouble between them. Theodore nearly forced her to nod in the room.”
