Chapter 217
“That’s called flirt. You wouldn’t understand–you’ve never been in love.” Noticing. Anthony’s expression darken, Alice stood up and walked over to him then whispered, “Do you know why Hannah wanted to team up with me for that?”
Anthony blurted out. “Isn’t it just because she’s jealous of Eliana?”
Alice replied calmly, “From what I know, it was Theodore who had Hannah’s lover sent to Julian’s underground casino. That set off a chain of events→ Julian dumped her, then had her taken to be auctioned off.”
‘Julian?’ Anthony thought to himself. ‘Is that the same Julian I know–the one who’s on equal footing with Theodore?‘
“Exactly, that’s him.” Alice read his thoughts and continued, “Hannah was auctioned off, subjected to bidding wars and brutal abuse. After all that, is it any wonder she turned out twisted?”
Anthony narrowed his eyes. “So that’s why she came to team up with you.”
“Exactly.” Alice nodded. “All you have to do is use this to drive a wedge between your brother and Eliana, right?”
Anthony’s interest was piqued, but he remained cautious as he asked, “How do you know so much about these matters?”
Alice said, “I’ve learned the hard way with you, so I’ve become smart.
“Before partnering with anyone, I make sure to vet them thoroughly. So unless Hannah tells me exactly why she’s doing this, there’s no way I’m investing my resources.”
Anthony couldn’t help but see her in a whole new light.
Seeing this, Alice draped her arms around his neck with a seductive smile. “Do I look more appealing now? After all, I’ve helped you again. You can
expose Hannah if you must, but don’t you dare betray me.
“Otherwise, I won’t be able to keep covering up all those things you’ve done.”
“I know.” In a businesslike tone, Anthony gently removed her hand from around his neck. “As a reward for the information you’ve provided, how much do
you want?”
Alice wagged her finger with a sly smile and said, “I don’t want money.”
Now it was Anthony’s turn to be surprised. “Oh?”
Alice rose onto her tiptoes, her lips brushing his ear as she murmured, “I want a baby.”
Seeing him frown, clearly eager to refuse, Alice said, “Only with a child can I become the true mistress of this family.”
Anthony’s eyes glinted. “You already are.”
Alice sneered coldly and said, “Anthony, make your choice–give me a baby, or I’ll expose all your dirty deeds to the world. Think carefully.”
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Eliana looked over at Isaac, who was still gaming online with Theodore, and said, “Isaac, it’s way past bedtime. Time to get
some sleep.”
Isaac looked up, his watery eyes glistening with pleading innocence. He begged, “Come on, just one more round, please?”
Eliana almost said yes, but a glance at the time snapped her back to reality. “No way. Keep this up, and I’m taking your phone.”
Isaac had no choice but to put down his phone, flopped onto the bed, and turned his handsome face away in a sulky huff.

Eliana’s heart softened. She coaxed, “Come on, I shouldn’t have been so hard on you. Don’t be mad at me, okay?
Isaac’s lips remained in an exaggerated pout.
Eliana shot Theodore a glare. Just because he showed up, Isaac started acting up.
Theodore was utterly baffled when she shot him that glare. Here he was, neglecting piles of work just to hang out and play games with Isaac, and this was the thanks he got.
After Eliana went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash up, Theodore noticed Isaac was still awake and called out, “Hey, Isaac
While playing with the corner of his blanket, Isaac asked, “What’s up?”
“Has Anthony done anything out of line to Ellie these days?”
Isaac asked, “What do you mean by ‘out of line‘?”
“Like this.” Theodore demonstrated by lightly running his fingers over Isaac’s hand.
Isaac shook his head. “Nope.”
‘That’s good,‘ Theodore thought, finally relaxing a bit.
Isaac added, “They just stood really close, chatting and laughing–that’s all.”
Theodore’s smile froze on his face.
A moment later, Eliana came out of the bathroom. Seeing that Isaac had already closed his eyes, she breathed a quiet sigh of relief, then told Theodore, “There’s no spare bed here for you.”
Theodore spotted an unoccupied bed next to Isaac and pointed out, “That one is okay.”
“That’s mine,” Eliana declared, quickly kicking off her shoes and scrambling onto the bed before he could claim it.
Seeing this, Theodore kept his composure and said, “Guess I’ll have to make do with the chair then.”
Eliana couldn’t help but glance at the tiny chair he was sitting on. Honestly, it looked barely adequate for sitting, let alone sleeping.
She frowned. “Suit yourself.”
With that, she turned her back to him, thinking, ‘Like I care what happens to him.‘
Time seemed to slip by, and just as Eliana was drifting off to sleep, a large hand suddenly wrapped gently around her waist, followed by a solid wall of muscle pressing against her back,
Eliana jolted wide awake.
“Theodore!” Eliana didn’t even need to turn around–she knew exactly who it was.
Theodore whined pitifully in her ear, “Baby, this chair is killing me. Let’s just share the bed, okay?”
Eliana slapped his hand away. Trapped in the cramped bed, unable to turn over, she could only fume in thin air and snap, “Theodore, you went back on your word–you utter bastard.”
Seeing her repeat the same insult over and over, Theodore chuckled softly and said, “If bastard‘ isn’t enough, you can call me a jerk, a moron, or an idiot -mix and match however you like, as long as it makes you happy.”
“You-” Eliana was itching to turn around and give him a piece of her mind.

Chapter 217
Just then, Isaac rolled over and murmured something in his sleep.
Theodore whispered, “Do you want to wake Isaac up?”
Of course she didn’t want to.
“Be good and close your eyes,” Theodore murmured, wrapping his arm around her waist again
Eliana gave his forearm a sharp twist to vent her frustration, then finally fell asleep, still fuming.
as he settled in to sleep
The next morning, when Eliana woke up, it was already 9 AM.
She blinked, surprised. It was the latest she’d slept in for days.
“Ellie, you’re awake,” Isaac called out.
Eliana looked over at Isaac and said a bit apologetically, “Isaac, you must be starving. Let me go get you some breakfast.”
“Oh, you don’t have to,” Isaac said cheerfully. “Theodore already sent breakfast over. He told me not to wake you up. I’m full.” As he spoke, he pointed to the fresh breakfast on the table. “This one’s for you.”
After the microwave beeped, Eliana opened it and took out her breakfast. Just as she was about to head back a voice beside her, dripping with anticipation, suddenly chimed in, “That smells amazing. Is that from Joyful Kitchen?”
Momentarily stunned, Eliana turned around and called his name, “Samuel?”
