After the driver stopped the car, he glanced in the rearview mirror. Seeing Theodore resting his head on Eliana’s shoulder and firmly holding her waist, he couldn’t help but chuckle, “Madam, see how attached Mr. Russell is to you?”
Eliana said sheepishly, “He’s drunk. Could you help me get him inside?”
“Yes, ma’am,” said the driver.
In the living room, seeing the driver and Eliana carrying Theodore in, Anthony, who had been sitting on the sofa deep in thought, immediately stood up and stepped forward with concern. He asked, “Eliana, what happened to Theodore?”
Eliana blurted out, “He got drunk at the Therapy Center.”
Anthony was confused about hearing mentioning the Therapy Center.
Ever since Theodore returned from Gerwulf a month ago, he had gradually pushed Anthony to the sidelines, treating him as if he were invisible.
Ever since Cameron, whom Anthony had contacted, was driven away by Samuel’s disgusting behavior, Anthony’s visits to the hospital became increasingly rare–Theodore always managed to pile work on him at the company.
Seeing Theodore and Eliana being so lovey–dovey, Anthony turned cold, but he forced a cheerful smile and said, “I heard the Therapy Center has been rebuilt, so everyone has a home again. Is tonight a celebration dinner for Theodore?”
Eliana explained, “No, it’s a family reunion dinner. If it were a celebration dinner, I would’ve definitely invited you.”
Anthony was momentarily taken aback, and then a genuine smile lit up his face. “I’m truly glad you remembered me,
Eliana.”
As Eliana looked at his sincere expression, she couldn’t help but recall what Theodore had told her–that it was Anthony who had ordered someone to
shoot him in the chest.
A chill ran down her spine. ‘Just what kind of person have I been dealing with all this time?‘ she thought.
It wasn’t until Anthony waved his hand in front of her face and asked, “Eliana, what are you thinking about? You look totally spaced out.”
Eliana snapped back to reality and said, “It’s nothing. I should take him to his room to rest.”
Anthony nodded and said, “Alright, good night, Eliana.”
“Good night,” Eliana replied.
After responding, Eliana and the driver helped Theodore into the elevator and up to the second floor.
At that moment, Alice emerged from the shadows, a glass of water in hand. She asked, “Why haven’t you made your move yet?”
Anthony retorted coldly, “What move?”
“Tell Eliana that Hannah planned the arson at the Therapy Center,” Alice reminded him while probing, “Don’t tell me yo

ing soft on her?”
“I may not understand your strategy,” she said, “but it’s already been a whole month, and their feelings have clearly rekindled. The longer you wait, the slimmer your chance of success.”
Hearing this, Anthony turned to face her. Under the uneven lighting, half of his face was illuminated while the other half was shrouded in shadow.

He said, “Don’t you think the deeper their feelings grow, the harder the truth will hit Eliana?”
Alice was slightly taken aback, then smiled and said, “You’ve got a point. Alright, I’ll be watching.”
Meanwhile, upstairs in the bedroom, the driver asked, “Madam, shall we put Mr. Russell on the bed?”
“Just put him on the sofa,” Eliana said.
‘I’m still not ready to change the sheets,‘ Eliana thought.
“Yes,” the driver replied. After settling Theodore on the sofa, he left.
Eliana then leaned down and gently patted Theodore’s face. “Wake up,” she said. “Time for your shower.”
After a long moment, Theodore finally opened his bleary, drunken eyes. Instinctively, he murmured, “Baby, shower with me.”
Listening to his deep, husky voice and glancing at his disheveled bangs, Eliana found him possessed of an irresistible allure.
Eliana couldn’t help but ask, “So, is this how you hit on other girls?”
Theodore’s thick brows knitted together instantly. “She was the one hitting on me. So damn disgusting…”
Eliana raised an eyebrow and teased, “So, did you fall for it?”
“I told her to get lost,” Theodore slurred, squinting at the three blurry images swaying before him. Struggling to focus, he mumbled, “Baby, am I great?”
As he leaned in for a kiss, Eliana quickly turned his face away. “You reek,” she said. “Go take a shower.”
Theodore paused blankly, then instinctively sniffed himself and wrinkled his nose. “Yeah… I really do reek…”
The next moment, using the chair back for support, he swayed upright and lurched unsteadily toward the bed.
Eliana quickly called out, “Wrong way. The bathroom’s behind you.”
After a pause, Theodore turned around and said with feigned sobriety, “Yeah, I know where it is.”
‘You sure you know?‘ Eliana thought skeptically.
As he was about to reach the bathroom, he walked straight into the glass door, hitting his forehead so hard that Eliana winced just watching.
Seeing the bright red mark on his forehead and his utterly bewildered look, Eliana softened. “Fine, I’ll help you in,” she said gently.
In the bathroom, as Eliana bent over to adjust the water temperature for him, she inadvertently exposed a glimpse of her slim, fair waist. At the sight, Theodore’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his drunken haze deepening.
But soon, Eliana straightened up and said, “I’ll leave you to it. Try not to drown yourself.”
“Mm…” Theodore murmured, a hint of regret in his voice.
Almost an hour went by, yet Theodore still hadn’t emerged.
Eliana couldn’t help but frown. ‘Did I actually jinx it?‘ she thought nervously..
With this thought, Eliana immediately headed to the bathroom door and knocked. “Aren’t you done yet? Is everything okay in there?”

Chapter 222
There was no response from inside–not even the sound of running water.
“Theodore,” Eliana called out again, her voice laced with worry as she anxiously yanked open the bathroom door.
To her surprise, she found Theodore standing there in a pristine white bathrobe, arms crossed leisurely, watching her with an amused expression.
Seeing the worry she couldn’t hide on her face, Theodore chuckled. “I knew you wouldn’t ignore me.”
Realizing she’d been tricked, Eliana huffed and thumped him on the chest–only to find her own hand throbbing in pain.
She stared at him, stunned, thinking, ‘His face is noticeably thinner, yet his body’s even more toned than before?”
Noticing her confusion, Theodore smirked knowingly and said, “For the past month, I’ve been holding you every night on that tiny bed, unable to do anything more. So, besides working out, what else could I do to burn off all that pent–up energy?”
‘Ugh, this jerk is making dirty jokes again,‘ Eliana thought.
The next morning, at the hospital, after helping Isaac pack up, Eliana turned to find him looking dejected. Tilting her head in puzzlement, she asked, “Isaac, it’s your discharge day. Why the long face?”
Isaac sat on the hospital bed, idly tracing circles on the sheets with his finger. With a sulky pout, he asked, “Ellie, are you really going to send me back home?”
