Chapter 246

Amid the dense coral reefs, schools of tiny fish darted through vibrant formations. Fascinated, Eliana, with Theodore’s help, drifted closer for a better

look

The moment they approached, the fish scattered into hiding. A small octopus even buried itself under the sand in a clumsy attempt at camouflage

Seeing this, Eliana mischievously poked its exposed head. In response, the octopus wrapped two tentacles around her finger, clinging like a child begging to be held. It was so adorable

Before she could savor the moment, a sea turtle glided leisurely past. She reached out, brushing its mottled shell. The turtle merely blinked before swimming on

When Eliana turned back to Theodore, her breath hitched. A pack of sharks emerged from behind him. She pointed, but he remained calm, steering her

aside as the predators circled curiously

The pack of sharks, aware of their presence, circled curiously around them. One even came right up to Eliana, close enough for her to see its sharp teeth. She froze, her pulse thundering

She tried to reassure herself, recalling that sharks only attacked if they smelled blood. Fortunately, the sharks soon lost interest and swam away

Letting out a shaky breath, Eliana glanced at Theodore, only to catch his amused smirk through his goggles. Flustered, she covered her face and thought, Ugh, he totally saw me panic. It’s so embarrassing.’

Just then, the two dive instructors reappeared. One pulled out a net, gesturing if they wanted to catch fish. Eliana shook her head. These creatures belong here, not in some tanks

The other instructor held an underwater camera, miming a photo

Eliana nodded, pondering poses. Theodore suddenly removed both their respirators. Before she could react, he kissed her, sharing his air as her eyes

widened. Her head spun, the world melting into a blur of colors

The camera flashed, capturing the moment as the instructor quickly snapped away with an envious gaze

When Theodore gently tapped her cheek twice, Eliana snapped out of her daze and bit down on the respirator he held to her lips. Her eyes were shimmering more brilliantly than the coral around them

Noticing their dwindling oxygen levels, the instructors pointed upward

It was time to surface. Eliana nodded, thoroughly satisfied with her underwater adventure

As Theodore guided her upward, they encountered a bloom of jellyfish. These translucent creatures drifted like ethereal spirits. He swiftly pulled her away, putting a safe distance between them and their stinging tendrils

Watching them ascend gracefully, Eliana felt her heart lift like a hotair balloon, light and buoyant

With a splash, Theodore and Eliana broke the surface, only for Delilah to immediately lean over the boat’s edge, hand outstretched. Theodore, let me

help you up.”

Theodore frowned, wondering why they were on his boat

Eliana whispered, Were they the ones the instructors saved earlier?”

Theodore vaguely recalled, not that he had cared enough to remember

Undeterred by his silence, Delilah kept her arm extended. Don’t just float there. Take my hand. She completely ignored Eliana

Marcusgaze slid to Eliana. As she removed her goggles, revealing a delicate face, he finally understood Theodore’s protectiveness. Guilt over Delilah’s

earlier push gnawed at him. Mrs. Russell, need assistance?he offered, reaching out

Theodore glared at him. No need.Ignoring Delilah’s persistent hand, he hauled himself onto the boat and then pulled Eliana up

Delilah, ever resilient, bounced beside him. Theodore, we owe you. Without you, Marcus and I would’ve drowned.”

Wrapping Eliana in a large towel, Theodore corrected flatly, It wasn’t me. My wife saved you.”

Delilah’s smile faltered. She paused for a moment before continuing, But the instructors said you sent them.”

Only because my wife pointed you out,Theodore said. I wouldn’t have known you were drowning otherwise.”

Marcus felt the weight of his guilt toward Eliana grow heavier. Yet for Delilah’s sake, he had no choice but to bury the truth about Eliana’s fall overboard forever

Noticing Marcuslingering gaze on Eliana, even with the towel covering her figure, Theodore frowned

Just then, the two instructors climbed aboard. After securing Eliana’s seatbelt, Theodore ordered curtly, Let’s head back.”

Back on the cruise ship, Franco, who had been admiring the view with others, approached as soon as Theodore and Eliana returned. How was it?”

Amazing!Eliana beamed, still buzzing with excitement

Franco chuckled at the water droplets clinging to her nose. Go change before you catch another cold.”

Though she knew it was just politeness, Eliana couldn’t help feeling warmed by his concern

Meanwhile, Delilah still pestered Theodore. Join us for dinner tonight. My brother and I want to thanky

you properly for saving us.”

I told you. It wasn’t me.Theodore’s tone was icy as he walked away with Eliana

Theodore!Delilah tried to follow

But Marcus grabbed her arm. Enough, Della.”

Why did you stop me?she huffed

Spotting Franco’s curious glance, Marcus frowned, Della, Theodore doesn’t even want to glance at you.”

Still stubborn, Delilah insisted, If I don’t chase him, he’ll ignore me even more. Anyway, I’ve always been the one chasing him. I’m used to it.”

Marcus sighed, Simps never win, Della.”
