Chapter 294
Delilah frantically splashed water on her face in the restroom, but the ink marks clung to her skin like they’d grown roots. No matter how hard she scrubbed, they wouldn’t budge.
She suddenly remembered what the sales associate had told her about the Tibaldi pen–how this ink quality could withstand sun and rain without fading.
Staring at her blotchy reflection in the mirror, Delilah’s frustration bolled over into tears.
Anthony stepped forward to comfort her, but she shoved him away hard. “This is all your fault”
“I didn’t know Barbie would be so careless. I apologize for her,” Anthony said gently.
“Careless? She did it on purpose!”
Everything Delilah had carefully prepared was ruined, and Theodore had witnessed her humiliation. Her words turned vicious and reckless. “Your precious siblings are just like your homewrecker mother–sneaky little bitches!”
Anthony’s eyes darkened, his voice dropping dangerously low. “I said I’m apologizing for her.”
But Delilah wasn’t listening anymore, desperately trying to scrub the ink from her face.
Just then, Barbara walked over and called out, “Anthony”
Anthony’s voice turned cold. “What are you doing here?”
Barbara held a bottle of makeup remover, looking at him with guilt written all over her face. “I came to bring Ms. Wren some makeup
remover.
Anthony’s eyes narrowed “Makeup remover?”
Barbara nodded earnestly. “Yeah, this stuff supposedly removes even paint, so it should definitely work.”
Delilah, who had been listening from inside the bathroom, poked her head out with fury blazing in her eyes. “Since when are you so nice!”
Barbara quickly turned to her. “Ms. Wren, I really didn’t mean to do that earlier. If you’re angry, I can fix this for you, but please don’t take it
out on your own face.”
Seeing Barbara’s sincere expression, Delilah thought it might have been an accident. More importantly, she needed to save her face right now instead of appearing in front of Theodore looking like this.
With that thought, Delilah snatched the makeup remover bottle. “Fine, I’ll try it.”
Barbara smiled slightly.
A moment later, Delilah screamed, “Ahl”
Hearing Delilah’s scream, Anthony immediately rushed into the bathroom. “What happened?”
He found Delilah collapsed on the floor, her hands hovering near her eyes but not daring to touch them, crying out, “it hurts” over and over.
He grabbed the makeup remover bottle from the counter, poured some into his palm, and brought it to his nose. A faint smell of pepper spray hit him

When Delilah finally looked up, her entire face was red and swollen, tears streaming from her eyes that were clearly burning,
“Damn it!” Anthony cursed under his breath, then scooped her up in his arms. “I’m taking you to the hospital
Laincy watched in confusion in the living room as Anthony hurried toward the door carrying Delilah. “Ms. Wren, you’re leaving already?
Anthony pressed his lips together in silence while Delilah covered her face with her hands.
This only made Lainey more puzzled. “What’s wrong with Ms. Wren?”
“What’s wrong with me?” Delilah snapped. “Ask your precious daughter This isn’t over”
Lainey stood there stunned.
After Anthony left with Delilah, Lainey finally snapped out of it and walked toward the dining room, where Barbara was eating. She asked, “Barbie, what did you do to Delilah?”
Theodore was having breakfast at the table alongside Barbara and Jayden, while Eliana sat nearby, keeping them company.
At Lainey’s words, everyone turned to look at Barbara.
Barbara set down her fork. “Mom, I splashed pen ink on Delilah’s face and tricked her into thinking chill water was makeup remover. Just messing with her.””
Lainey’s voice tightened. “Why would you do that?!”
“Because I can’t stand her,” Barbara said flatly.
Lainey felt like she might faint from anger. Her carefully laid plans with Anthony had just been completely sabotaged by her daughter, no
less!
She couldn’t help but look at Eliana, her anger clouding her judgment as she demanded, “Eliana, you put Barbie up to this, didn’t you?”
Theodore’s expression darkened instantly.
Seeing this, Barbara quickly said, “Mom, this has nothing to do with Eliana. I wanted to get revenge for you myself. I still remember when we were kids–Delilah threw coffee on you. You might have forgotten, but I never could.”
Those words immediately drained most of Lainey’s anger. She couldn’t blame a child who cared so much about her. She sighed, “You silly girl!”
Barbara lowered her eyes, following Lainey’s lead. “I am silly, but I can’t stand watching outsiders bully my family. Mom, when Anthony gets back, he can punish me however he wants. I’m going upstairs to study now.”
Watching Barbara leave without touching her breakfast, looking so dejected as she headed upstairs, Lainey couldn’t help but call out with concern, “Barbiel”
Then, taking out her frustration on the servants, Lainey snapped, “What are you standing around for? Get breakfast up to Barbie right now!”
The servant nodded nervously and hurried off to get a tray.
At that moment, Jayden said, “Mom, let me take it to Barbara.”

“Yeah, I’m done eating anyway.”
“Alright then, make sure you comfort your sister properly”
“Sure.” Jayden took the tray from t
the servant, added Barbara’s leftover breakfast to it, and headed toward the elevator.
“What a mess this all is!”
Lainey had barely finished muttering her complaint when Theodore suddenly asked, “What did you mean by what you said earlier?”

Lainey played dumb. “What? I don’t remember saying anything.”
Theodore wasn’t about to let this slide. “You said my wife encouraged Barbara to target Delilah.”
Seeing no way out, Lainey said stiffly, “I just noticed Barbie’s been getting close to your wife lately. I was only asking”
“Now that the truth’s out, shouldn’t you apologize to my wife?” Theodore asked.
Lainey’s breath caught. “I’m the elder here. You want me to apologize to her?”
Theodore’s voice was calm, “Elders should set a better example. Hasn’t the lesson my father got taught you enough?”
A chill ran through Lainey’s body. “What did Theodore mean by that? Wasn’t it enough that he’d sent his own father to prison? Was he threatening me now?”
Lainey decided to back down. “Alright, I apologize to you.”
Theodore’s tone was firm. “Be clear about who you’re
you’re apologizing to.”
Lainey clenched her fists, humiliation burning in her chest. “I apologize to your wife, Eliana!”
Only then did Theodore continue, “I didn’t say anything in front of Barbara and Jayden just now because I wanted to save you some dignity
in front of your children. Next time you pull something like this, I’ll make you apologize to their faces
Eliana glanced at him with
surprise. The old Theodore never would have considered Barbara and Jayden’s feelings as children. He would have humiliated Lainey however he saw fit. He had grown softer,
