Chapter 46
Seeing the unease written all over Lainey’s face, Anthony gently patted her hand and comforted her “Mom, haven’t we been swapping out Samust’s medication all along? Theodore’s eyes won’t recover.”
But Lainey remained deeply anxious. “What if Theodore secretly had Samuel test the medicine we sent?”
“Even if he did, it wouldn’t matter.” As Lainey’s eyes widened in surprise, Anthony continued, “Grandpa knows the situation perfectly well. Dad’s in prison. Theodore is blind, and he himself is getting old
“I’m taken down too, the Russell family will collapse. So, there is no doubt who he wants to protect and who to sacrifice”
Hearing this, Lainey finally relaxed a little. “You’re right, honey. All you need to do is keep your grip on the Russell family tightly.”
Anthony gave a faint smile and replied, “Don’t worry, Mom. I don’t retum what I’ve taken,”
The next morning, Eliana woke to find herself curled up in Theodore’s arms once again.
She bit her lip in dismay, thinking, “If this keeps happening, is he going to accuse me of harassment and kick me to the couch
Just then, a low groan escaped Theodore’s throat.
Eliana guessed he was about to wake up, so she quickly weighed her options–pretend to be asleep or face him. Finally, she chose the former.
When Theodore opened his eyes, he immediately noticed her eyeballs darting around beneath her lids. It was obvious she was taking it
Recalling that she’d been showing up in his dream the whole night, he gritted his teeth and gave her cheek a firm pinch. He grumbled internally, ‘Do you realize the consequence of taking off your clothes in front of me!”
Misinterpreting his action, Eliana thought he was upset about her clinging to him again. Feeling mortified, she kept her eyes firmly shut..
But Theodore said in a cool tone, “Stop pretending. I know you’re awake.”
Startled, Eliana’s eyes flew open. “How did you know?”
He couldn’t say it was because he saw her. Though his vision was returning a little more each day, it still wasn’t time to let anyone know.
“Your breathing gave you away,” he replied curtly
anna be a rough winter otherwise.”
Eliana accepted that explanation without much thought. “Well… I think we need to get a heater or something it’s gonna l
-Theodore actually agreed. During the past two nights, thanks to her, he’d barely slept.
“But Lainey won’t give you money,” he said flatly. After a pause, he added, “And I won’t either.”

“No problem. I’ve got it.” Elana then added with a grin, “Wait, I mean your grandpa got it. I’m going home tomorrow to get the money from my dad.”
She was so matter–of–fact that Theodore didn’t even know how to respond.
Elana’s eyes lit up as she added excitedly, “Oh, booked the renovation team to come today. We’ll have our big, beautiful floor–to–ceiling windows very
As Theodore looked into her bright eyes, a thought crossed his mind. “Eyes like these shouldn’t be trapped in such a dark and lifeless room.”

Chapter 45
At 9AH sharp, the renovation beam that Ellana had booked arrived right on time.
When Lainey saw several dusty workers stepping through the door, her face twisted with disdain. “Make sure they change their shoes, I don’t want the carpets to get dirty.”
The workers were Industrious and decent, but they frowned slightly at her tone.
Then Eliana walked over, crouched down, and personally handed them slippers to west. The gesture left the men surprised and flustered. They said, “Ho, ma’am. We’ve got it.”
Once they were all changed, Eliana flashed them a warm simile and said, “Please follow me.”
